Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of designing spokes of a non-pneumatic tire which randomly arranges spokes around a circumference to optimize noise dispersion. The method of designing spokes of a non-pneumatic tire includes placing a plurality of spokes (2) holding and supporting a tread (1) to be radially installed around a circumference of the tire on a circular spoke support (3) under the tread (1) to be in contact with the ground, wherein the spokes (2) are arranged at three angles on the circular spoke support (3) around the circumference of the tire, the three angles being divided into a small angle (a), a medium angle (b) and a large angle (c), and the spokes (2) are arranged at irregular angles under a condition that a ratio (q) of the large angle (c) to the small angle (a) is greater than a ratio (p) of the medium angle (b) to the small angle (a).

Abstract: A rim for a motor vehicle has several radial hollow spokes in a wheel disk which is manufactured in a die tool and is connected with a rim well. The cast wheel disk is connected with a deformed rim well by friction welding in the area of a rim flange. On an interior side, the wheel disk has at least one flat welding surface which extends around as an annulus and which is arranged so that it corresponds with another opposite flat welding surface of the rim well. In at least one of the hollow spokes, one reinforcing rib is arranged which extends radially from the wheel center axis toward the outside and connects two opposite walls of the spoke with one another.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved wheel for a vehicle of the type having an annular rim adapted to carry a tire thereon and a wheel center, the annular rim being press fitted onto the outer peripheral part of said wheel center, the improvement consisting in that the annular rim and the wheel center are connected to one another with the aid of a layer of adhesive agent which is distributed in such a manner that its thickness assumes the maximum value at the central part of the cross-sectional configuration and decreases toward both the side edge parts of the wheel in the transverse direction. The maximum thickness of the layer of adhesive agent is determined in the range of 0.05 to 0.5 mm. The annular rim is firmly connected to the outer peripheral part of the wheel center by means of the layer of adhesive agent without any necessity for welding or the like operation so that the wheel has a good appearance. Epoxy resin based adhesive agent is preferably used for the wheel.

Abstract: A wire spoke, non-suspension type, automotive wheel is provided in which spokes are operably untensioned prior to vehicle loads being placed upon the wheel. An outer tubeless tire rim with a drop center is mounted to a wheel center. The wheel center includes a substantially thick and solid felly connected to a concentrically positioned hub. Wire spokes extend radially outward from the hub in a patterned circumferential array and have tenons or feet on inner ends thereof which are anchored within recesses at front and rear ends of the hub. Radially disposed outer ends of the spokes have plain terminations which are welded to form a plug anchor within circumferentially spaced bores in the felly to secure the spokes. The bores are preferably situated in inwardly extending dimples which are formed in the felly. The bores are partially frusto-conically shaped and are formed by a method using a circular punch and corresponding die. The punch is struck against the inner circumferential surface of the felly in an outward radial direction thereby punching out a chip such that the partially frusto-conical shaped bore remains. In an alternative method dimples can be added to the felly and nipples can be formed along the spokes to simulate suspension wire wheels. The method permits wheel formations which exhibit the classic beauty and elegance of a suspension wire spoke wheel, combined with durability, strength and ease of construction.
