    摘要: An aerodynamically optimized drag-reduction apparatus for optimally reducing the drag-induced resistive forces upon a terrestrial vehicle, where the drag-induced resistive moments on wheel surfaces pivoting about the stationary point of ground contact are reduced, and the vehicle propulsive forces needed to countervail the resistive forces on the wheel are reduced. The drag reduction apparatus includes: a streamlined fairing positioned on a vehicle to shield the faster moving upper wheel surfaces from headwinds; an engine exhaust pipe disposed on a vehicle whereby exhaust gases deflect headwinds to shield the faster moving upper wheel surfaces of an automotive wheel; an automotive spoked wheel having streamlined oval-shaped wheel spokes; a streamlined spoke tailfin rotatably attached to a wheel spoke; a cycle wheel with a tapered spoke having a thin aerodynamic profile near the rim and tapering to a round profile towards the central hub; and a tire having streamlined tread blocks arranged in an aerodynamic pattern.

    摘要: A bicycle wheel basically has a hub, a plurality of spokes extending outwardly from the hub and an annular rim coupled to the outer ends of the spokes for supporting a tire. The annular rim has a spoke attachment portion with a plurality of openings for receiving the outer ends of the spokes therein. In the most preferred embodiment, the bicycle wheel is a one-piece, unitary wheel. Preferably, the one-piece, unitary bicycle wheel of the present invention is produced by die-casting. The preferred material for bicycle wheel of the present invention is magnesium (Mg). A centrally located rib portion is located between adjacent spoke portions and to reinforce the rim portion between spokes. Rib portions extend radially inwardly from the inner peripheral surface of rim portion. Preferably, the middle segment of each of the rib portions has a radial height that is approximately equal to the base rim height plus more than half of the base rim height. The shapes of spoke portions are designed to absorb the vibrations from the ground as it is being used in the bicycle. This shock absorbing function is enhanced by the use of magnesium for the wheel.

    摘要: A wheel consists of a cast wheel spider which comprises several hollow spokes and which is connected with a rim ring by way of a weld, particularly a friction weld. In the area of the outer circumference, the hollow spokes have internal core openings for a sand core, and the openings are directed toward the rim ring. The wheel spider has bolt bores which are arranged concentrically with resect to a centric wheel opening and which are provided with bore sleeves which are cast approximately in the center inside the hollow spoke and have radially extending reinforcing ribs 11. In the area of the core openings, the wheel spider has at least one reinforcing element between opposite walls of each hollow spoke. The reinforcing element preferably consists of two cylindrically cast pins respectively which extend in parallel to the wheel axis and are arranged at a distance from one another and are situated on both sides of a transverse wheel plane defined by the reinforcing rib.
