    摘要: A seal assembly is located at an entrance and/or an exit of a heat treatment furnace with a side plate for heat treating a continuously fed metallic strip. The furnace includes an elastic rotating roll which has a roll body and a roll shaft, and is engaged with an elastic pad fixed on a surface of a seal plate and the metallic strip to seal an inside of the furnace against outside air. The seal assembly includes at least two closely-set slip disks arranged in an axial direction of an end side of the roll body, and at least one elastic disk engaging the side plate of the furnace. The at least two slip disks and at least one elastic disk are fitted over the roll shaft between the side plate of the furnace on which the elastic rotating roll is rotatably mounted and the roll body of the elastic rotating roll such that the at least two slip disks and the at least one elastic disk are in surface contact with each other. In the contact surfaces present from the roll body to the side plate of the furnace, the contact surfaces between the at least two slip disks have the lowest coefficient of dynamic friction.

    摘要: A method for controlling a tension of a metal strip in a heat treatment furnace, comprising (a) travelling the metal strip through a plurality of tapered rolls; (b) measuring a tension (.sigma.) working on the metal strip through at least one of the tapered rolls; (c) computing a critical tension (.sigma..sub.cr) which generates heat buckle based on a thickness of the metal strip, a width of the metal strip, an elastic modulus of the metal strip, a length of a flat roll portion and a roll taper under a hot state; and (d) controlling the tension measured by the step (b) to be over a tension (.sigma..sub.min) sufficient to prevent transverse displacement but less than the critical tension (.sigma..sub.cr) which generates heat buckle. C. or higher, a first cooling zone for cooling the strip at a rate of at least 100.degree. C./min. to 100.degree. C. or lower, a secondary heating zone for heating the strip to 120.degree.-250.degree. C. within 10 minutes for thereby adjusting a proof stress of 70-120 N/mm.sup.2 directly or after holding for 10 minutes or less, a coiler for winding the strip into a coil at 140.degree. C. or lower, and a unit for holding the coil at 50.degree.-140.degree. C. for at least 3 hours. The process from solution treatment to winding is continuous as well as from winding to stabilizing treatment. The strip has improved formability and bake hardenability and a minimized secular change at room temperature.

    摘要: A seal assembly of the invention located on entrance and exit sides of a heat treating furnace for a metallic strip. The seal assembly is formed of a housing having a furnace wall and a side plate, a seal sheet fixed at one end to the side plate and supported in place with flexibility, an elastic seal pad fixed to a surface of the seal sheet, and an elastic rotating roll held by the furnace wall at longitudinal ends and pressed against the elastic seal pad and a metallic strip to be treated. The elastic seal pad has a surface formed of a material with a limit oxygen index LOI of 26 or more and a hardness of 10 to 50 as measured according to JIS S6050. Also, a plurality of pressure applying mechanisms is attached to the side plate. Each pressure applying mechanism includes a holder fixed to each sleeve of the furnace wall, a pressure applying member situated in the holder to apply pressure to the seal sheet in the furnace, a coil spring situated in the holder for urging the pressure applying member to the furnace, and a bolt threadably engaging a thread of the holder for urging the coil spring toward the furnace. The elastic seal pad can closely contact the elastic rotating roll by the plurality of pressure applying mechanisms.

    摘要: A seal device is provided in each comparted entrance and exit of a furnace for continuous thermal treatment of a metallic strip using a flammable atmospheric gas. The seal device is provided with seal members for sandwiching the metallic strip to seal the flammable atmospheric gas, seal hardwares each being fixed to a furnace body and pressed by the seal member, and seal mechanisms for sealing the flammable atmospheric gas from the seal member at an urgent time. A differential distribution detector having heat-receiving portions formed of a metallic pipe filled with air is placed over the whole width outside the seal member. When a leaked atmospheric gas is ignited outside the seal member, a rapid temperature increase in the heat-receiving portions is detected to give a signal, whereby running of the metallic strip is stopped, and the seal mechanism is operated to shut off the seal device from the inside of the furnace body. Then, a nitrogen gas is fed into the seal device.

The graining is effected by a continuous loop electrode having an elongated main body portion and an elongated continuous loop tip edge projecting laterally from a general plane of the main body portion for establishing an arc between the tip edge and the workpiece surface. The arc is moved about the continuous electrode tip by elongated magnetic means located in close proximity to the electrode, the magnetic means including a continuous loop pole member spaced outwardly of and concentric with the continuous loop tip edge. A second pole member of a polarity opposite the outer pole member is located in the general center of the closed loop tip edge.
