    摘要: A method and apparatus for heating pressure vessels used in the tire retreading and tire repairing industry which includes a plurality of heat exchangers in the form of plate coils associated with the pressure vessel with steam being circulated through the plate coils for heating the pressure vessel to a temperature required for vulcanizing rubber. Steam is supplied from a boiler and returned to a condensate return tank through valves and traps in order to provide a closed loop system with the steam being produced by the boiler passing through steam lines into the upper end portions of the plate coils which are attached to the pressure vessel, either interiorly or exteriorly, in a manner to radiate heat into the insulated pressure vessel in order to raise the temperature interiorly of the vessel to that required for vulcanizing rubber. As heat is radiated from the plate coils into the pressure vessel, the steam in the plate coils will be cooled and condensed and forced into a float operated trap and when the water level in the trap builds up, the float valve therein is opened and the condensate water is forced through a condensate return line into a condensate return tank with this circulation of the steam through the plate coils maintaining substantially constant temperature in the pressure vessel. The condensate return tank is provided with a feed water line to maintain a desired water level by the use of a float valve with a water pump being activated to pump the water back into the boiler where it is heated for passage into the plate coils thereby providing a closed loop system with the feed water line, of course, maintaining proper water levels in the system.

    摘要: The invention relates to the use of reinforcing cords associated with the pneumatic tire to control radial force variations in the tire under loaded conditions, and the method of applying such reinforcing cords woven in a warp and weft relationship cut on a bias or circumferentially to form a belt, such belt extending past the lateral edges of the present belt and applied to the tire either in its new form or as a retreaded tire from an old carcass. It can be extruded into the tread material as it is initially formed. Basically, the cords are made from a very high strength material, either synthetic, wire, or the like, having a tensile strength of approximately 125 psi each, with the cords spaced at approximate 1/4 inch spacings. Hence, there will be four cords, more or less, per inch. The cords could be increased to 150 or more pounds each. There will be approximately 20 to 40, depending upon the width of the tread area of the tire involved and the width of the normal belt ply in the radial or bias ply tire involved. This type of construction serves as an extra belt of many hundred pounds tensile strength, thereby controlling radial force variations in the tire, maintaining the integrity of the belt plies already in the tire, and is particularly applicable to controlling these forces in retreaded tires and particularly retreaded radial tires by preventing delamination of the retread at the old belt ply area.

Subsequent vulcanization assures a firm bond between the recap components and the used tire body.

    摘要: Improved apparatus is disclosed for bonding tread material to tire carcasses utilizing a flexible heat conducting belt one end of which is secured to the tread and the remaining length thereof encircles the periphery of the tread and, by virtue of its heat conducting properties, assists in the bond of the tread to the tire carcass. The flexibility of the belt, as contrasted to a rigid matrix, for example, also permits the belt to conform to the tread configuration. One form of the invention disclosed also includes a second belt laminated to the first and having more strength so that the required pressure to assist in the curing operation can be accomplished without using a conventional pressure chamber. A further form of the invention discloses a laminated metallic type belt which again has one end secured to the tread and is wrapped about the periphery of the assembled tire. This form of the invention includes a metallic outer layer and a resilient heat conducting inner layer so that again both the required heat and pressure can be utilized. A still further form of the invention discloses shiftable plates carried by tire engaging plates which can be brought to bear against the edges of the tread at the line of juncture with the side wall. Heating units are also provided in this area, and the shiftable plates insure that the edges of the tread will be securely sealed and seated against the side wall of the tire during the curing operation.
