摘要： A system that enables a telephone service subscriber to maintain his or her privacy by providing callers with a disposable telephone number. The system comprises a database that associates the disposable telephone number with subscriber information. The system also comprises a routing device that is in communication with the database. The routing device is adapted to receive calls dialing the disposable telephone number. When a call is received by the routing device, the routing device consults the database to retrieve the subscriber information. When the subscriber information comprises a true telephone number of the subscriber, the routing device forwards the call to the true telephone number.

摘要： A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a communication device having a controller to present a graphical user interface (GUI) with a plurality of toolbars, detect a selection of a web-based toolbar, present the GUI with a hierarchical listing of content associated with the selected web-based toolbar, detect a selection of content from the hierarchical listing of content, create a new toolbar associated with the selected content with at least one selectable GUI element, present the GUI with the new toolbar intermixed with at least a portion of the plurality of toolbars, poll a web service for content updates, wherein the web service is associated with the selected content, and present the GUI with content updates supplied by the web service displayed in a portion of the new toolbar. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

摘要： A system and method is provided for routing telephone calls on a standard telephone network to one of a PSTN network and a VoIP network. The system comprises at least one telephone capable of making local and long distance calls on the network. A Central Office is coupled to the telephone and comprises a trigger for identifying calls to be routed to either a VoIP platform or the PSTN network. Calls to be converted to IP protocol are routed to a VoIP platform. An IP network is coupled to the VoIP platform and routes VoIP calls to one or more devices in communication with the telecommunications system.
