Abstract: A power controller for an LLC resonant converter controls a high-side switch and a low-side switch. An ON-time generator in the power controller determines a high-side ON time of the high-side switch and a low-side ON time of the low-side switch in response to the bigger one between a feedback voltage and a burst voltage, where the feedback voltage is generated in response to an output voltage of the LLC resonant converter. A burst-mode controller in the power controller has a triangular-wave generator providing a triangular-wave signal with an amplitude in association with the burst voltage. A comparator comparing the triangular-wave signal and the feedback voltage to determine a break time when both the high-side and low-side switches are turned OFF. The LLC resonant converter operates in a burst mode when the break time is introduced.

Abstract: A power supply has a transformer, a rectifier switch, a secondary-side controller and two diodes. The transformer includes a primary winding, a secondary winding, and a detection winding, inductively coupling to one another. The rectifier switch is connected in series with the secondary winding between two output power lines. The secondary-side controller is electrically coupled to two ends of the detection winding, for controlling the rectifier switch in response to two terminal signals at the two ends respectively. The two diodes are back-to-back electrically connected in series between the two ends, and a joint connecting the two diodes is electrically connected to one of the two output power lines.

Abstract: A power controller for use in a PFC power converter is capable being immune from audible noise during the test of load transient response. A transconductor with a transconductance compares an output voltage of the PFC power converter with a target voltage to provide a compensation current, which builds up a compensation voltage. An ON-time controller is configured to end an ON time of a power switch in response to the compensation voltage. An OFF-time controller is configured to end an OFF time of the power switch. A compensation-voltage designator presets the compensation voltage. A status detector controls the transconductor, the ON-time controller, the OFF-time controller, and the compensation-voltage designator, in response to the output voltage, a top-boundary voltage and a bottom-boundary voltage.

Abstract: A dimming controller is capable of receiving a dimming signal to dim light-emitting device no matter the dimming signal is of DC or of PWM. A type identifier identifies whether the dimming signal received from an input node is of DC or of PWM. A multiplexer with an output is controlled by the type identifier and configured to provide at least a DC signal path and a PWM signal path both coupled between the input node and the output. The type identifier makes the multiplexer enable the DC signal path and interrupt the PWM signal path if the dimming signal is identified as of DC, and makes the multiplexer enable the PWM signal path and interrupt the DC signal path if the dimming signal is identified as of PWM.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention shows a high-voltage MOS field-effect transistor connected in series with a Schottky diode. When the Schottky diode is forwardly biased, the high-voltage MOSFET can act as a switch and sustain a high drain-to-source voltage. When the Schottky diode is reversely biased, the Schottky diode can protect the integrate circuit where the high-voltage MOSFET is formed, because the integrate circuit might otherwise burn out due to an exceedingly-large reverse current.

Abstract: A high-voltage startup circuit in an integrated circuit with a high-voltage pin and an operating voltage pin is disclosed, capable of having both low standby power consumption and high-speed transient response. An ultra-high voltage transistor and a main NMOS transistor are connected in series via a joint node between the high-voltage pin and the operating voltage pin. A pull-up circuit controlled by a stop signal is connected between the joint node and a first gate of the main NMOS transistor. A pull-down circuit controlled by the stop signal is connected to the first gate of the main NMOS transistor. When the stop signal is de-asserted the pull-up circuit couples the joint node to the first gate. When the stop signal is asserted the pull-up circuit performs an open circuit and the pull-down circuit pulls down the first gate voltage.

Abstract: A ripple suppressor suppresses ripples of a channel current. The ripple suppressor comprises a voltage-controlled current source, a stabilizer, and an auto-calibration circuit. A control voltage at a control node controls the channel current flowing through a path connecting first and second channel nodes. The voltage-controlled current source receives a current-setting signal to generate the control voltage, so as to stabilize the channel current in response to the current-setting signal. The stabilizer at least provides low-pass filtering to generate and stabilize the current-setting signal in response to a first channel voltage at the first channel node. The auto-calibration circuit controls the stabilizer in response to the control voltage, so as to make the control voltage in compliance with a first predetermined condition.

Abstract: A power controller with over power protection is disclosed, capable of providing a pulse-width-modulation signal to control a power switch. The power controller comprises a pulse width modulator, first and second oscillators, and an over power detector. The pulse width modulator generates the pulse-width-modulation signal. The first oscillator is coupled to the pulse width modulator, for determining a cycle time of the pulse-width-modulation signal. The second oscillator, independent from the first oscillator, determines a maximum over power duration. The over power detector detects the occurrence of an over power event. When the over power event lasts for the maximum over power duration, the pulse-width-modulation signal switches OFF the power switch constantly.
