    摘要: Iron-based alloy composition containing special proportions of nickel, chromium, aluminum, copper and carbon provides good corrosion-resistance characteristics for service in caustic media, e.g., sodium hydroxide, chloride media, e.g., magnesium chloride, caustic-chloride media, e.g., sodium hydroxide-sodium chloride mixtures, and also when exposed to some acid media, e.g., nitric acid. Special utility particularly includes resistance to stress-corrosion-cracking in hot caustic and chloride media. Alloy has good workability for production of wrought products such as plate, bar and sheet and is also suitable for making corrosion-resistant castings and welded structures, e.g., chemical plant equipment.

    摘要: Recovery, by thermal upgrading, of nickel values from nickeliferous lateritic ores containing a silicate fraction is improved by forming agglomerates of the ore, a reagent containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of alkali or alkaline earth metal compounds in a small but effective amount to increase nickel recovery from the silicate fraction and a liquid hydrocarbon in an amount between about 1 and 12%, based on the weight of the ore and heating a static, shallow bed of the agglomerates established on a moving bed to partially melt the agglomerates to reduce and coalesce the nickel values into easily recoverable ferronickel concentrate. The grade of the ferronickel concentrate can be increased by incorporating a sulfur-bearing material in the agglomerates.

    摘要: A double-eccentric variable drive system is disclosed comprising a drive shaft, two eccentrics mounted on the drive shaft to be driven thereby, and means for varying the eccentricity of both of the eccentrics simultaneously. The means in question comprises a spindle having left-hand screw-threads on one end thereof and right-hand screw-threads on the other end thereof and an enlarged central portion rotatably mounted in the shaft but radially fixed relative thereto. The eccentrics each have a radial bore therethrough tapped to correspond with and receive the threads of the spindle, the bores being aligned on opposite sides of the shaft. Each eccentric has an axial bore larger than the diameter of the shaft in a direction parallel to the spindle to allow for movement of the eccentrics radially of the shaft. The arrangement is such that rotation of said spindle in one direction will simultaneously increase the eccentricity of both of the eccentrics relative to the shaft and rotation of the spindle in the other direction will simultaneously decrease the eccentricity of both of the eccentrics relative to the shaft. Preferably, the eccentrics each have a dovetail slide and a diametrically opposite dovetail, the dovetail of one eccentric slidably engaging in the dovetail slide of the other eccentric and vice versa, each dovetail having said radial bore passing therethrough. The system is particularly adapted for use in solvent extraction.
