Abstract:
A gene that is a modulator of tumor growth and metastasis in certain cancer types is provided. SCC-112 (about 150 kDa) and/or a mutant form of SCC-112 (about 65 kDa) is a tumor suppressor molecule. This gene and corresponding polypeptide have diagnostic and therapeutic application for detecting and treating cancers that involve expression of SCC-112 such as breast and kidney cancers.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of heterogeneous zirconium based catalyst for polymerization of alpha-olefins to super high molecular weight poly (alpha-olefins). The process comprises in mixing zirconium alcholate or phenolate with anhydrous magnesium chloride in the presence of a solvent. The mixture is heated, then cooled and an organoaluminum compound is added. Optionally, an electron donor compound is added and heated to obtain a black slurry, which is cooled and then washed with a hydrocarbon diluent.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of sulphurized calcium phenate from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). Distilled or hydrogenated distilled CNSL is reacted with calcium salt and sulphur in the presence of promoters to obtain a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is subjected to the step of carbonation to obtain basic sulfurized calcium phenate, which may be subjected to a further step of basefication to obtain overbased sulphurized calcium phenate. Such a calcium phenate is added to lubricating oil or grease as an additive.
Abstract:
A tracheostomy tube monitor and alerting apparatus includes: (i) a passive humidification device; and (ii) an integrated monitoring assembly fitted in an opening of a rear sidewall of the passive humidification device. The passive humidification device is configured to be connected to a connector of a tracheostomy tube of a patient. Once connected, the monitoring assembly of the apparatus can begin measuring one or more physiological parameters, such as, air flow, oxygen level, carbon dioxide level, pressure, and moisture. The measurements are compared against threshold values that denote blockage or decannulation. When these threshold values are surpassed, an alarm is actuated to alert a caregiver that the patient may be experiencing obstruction or decannulation of the tracheostomy tube.
Abstract:
A method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore comprises introducing into the subterranean formation a treatment fluid comprising encapsulated particles having a core of a crosslinking agent and a shell of a chitosan encapsulant disposed on the core; releasing the crosslinking agent from the encapsulated particles with an acid; reacting the released crosslinking agent with the chitosan encapsulant or a derivative thereof forming a polymerized chitosan; and consolidating a plurality of particles in the subterranean formation with the polymerized chitosan.
Abstract:
A method for operating in a borehole comprises disposing in a downhole environment a system comprising a tubular having a passage and a first restriction positioned inside the tubular; engaging a restrictor with the first restriction to block the passage; injecting a treatment fluid into the tubular, the treatment fluid comprising an invert emulsion, a carboxylic acid ester, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; and degrading and removing the first restriction.

Abstract:
A near field communications (NFC) device is disclosed that interacts with other NFC devices to exchange information and/or the data. The NFC device can include a plurality of secure elements each configured to store one or more card emulation instances. Each card emulation instance is associated with an application identification (AID) and a priority value. The NFC device can route communications between another NFC device and plurality of secure elements based on each card emulation instance's associated AID and priority value.
Abstract:
A hybrid counter generates a multi-bit hybrid counter value. The hybrid counter includes two or more asynchronous counters, each configured to generate a subset of the bits of the multi-bit hybrid counter value. The asynchronous counters are interconnected by a logic gate and a clock gating circuit. The logic gate generates an asynchronous logic value based on the bits generated by the previous asynchronous counters. The clock gating circuit re-times the asynchronous logic value to generate a synchronous logic value that is used to toggle the next asynchronous counter. The hybrid counter functions more accurately than conventional asynchronous counters and with less power than conventional synchronous counters.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a coating for inhibiting the formation of scales on one or more surfaces of a component used in the production of subsurface fluids. The coating comprises a diamond-like carbon structure doped with a dopant, such as silicon, titanium, fluorine, oxygen, or chromium. The dopant comprises between about 10% and about 40% of the coating by atom.
