Abstract:
A sensor module includes a housing. A heat source is located within the housing of the sensor module and a plurality of temperature sensors are mounted in housing of said sensor module. At least one temperature sensors is located adjacent to the heat source and at least one other temperature sensor is spaced from the heat source. A humidity sensor is located within the housing of the sensor module. A controller is connected to the plurality of temperature sensors and to the humidity sensor for determining at least one of relative humidity and temperature at the windscreen using a regression analysis and for providing a control signal indicative thereof.
Abstract:
A surface treating appliance includes a surface treating head, a hose, and a fan unit for generating a flow of fluid. A flexible duct assembly has a first end and a second end moveable relative to the first end between a first position allowing fluid flow between the hose and the fan unit, and a second position allowing fluid flow between the surface treating head and the fan unit. The duct assembly is connected to a first support which is pivotable about a first axis, and to a second support which is pivotable about a second axis spaced from the first axis. A drive mechanism effects the pivoting movement of the supports about their axes to move the second end of the duct assembly between the first and second positions.
Abstract:
A display comprising a flexible layered structure and a circuit layer. The layered structure comprises an active layer, comprising LC material and electroluminescent/phosphor material, switchable to define information to be displayed sandwiched between front and rear electrodes which are arranged to have an alternating voltage applied thereto to generate an electric field across the active layer. The display further comprises a substrate being the transparent front layer, a reflective insulating layer, an insulating layer mounted behind the rear electrode and a conductive plane mounted behind the insulating layer and connected to ground, to a DC voltage and/or to a same potential as the circuit layer. The circuit layer may comprise at least one switch to be activated by deflection of the layered structure.
Abstract:
An intrinsically safe energy limited circuit for space-restricted applications includes a fuse and resistor in series with a protected circuit or component wherein the fuse dissipates most of the power when the protected circuit or component is short circuited.
Abstract:
An upright cleaning appliance is described which includes a reclining upright body and a cleaner head, the cleaner head being connected to the upright body and maneuverable across a floor surface using a handle fixed to the upright body. The appliance also includes a substantially rigid wand which is connected to a suction inlet on the vacuum cleaner by a flexible hose and which is suitable for use in cleaning above the floor. The wand is configured for storage on-board the vacuum cleaner with a first portion of the wand constrained relative to the handle and a second portion of the wand constrained relative to a lower part of the upright body so that the wand braces the handle to said lower part.

Additionally, in various embodiments, the system includes a wireless interface adapted for connecting to the at least one interface connector of the hearing aid programmer, the wireless interface further adapted for wireless communication with one or more hearing aids. Varying embodiments of the present subject matter include a wireless interface which contains signal processing electronics, a memory connected to the signal processing electronics; and a wireless module connected to the signal processing electronics and adapted for wireless communications.
Abstract:
A method of driving a display, wherein the display comprises a layer of electroluminescent material (EL) and a layer of physically-stabilised liquid crystal (LC) wherein the layers of EL and LC are powered by a common set of electrodes. The method comprises driving the common electrodes with a voltage waveform which is substantially a truncated triangular waveform.
Abstract:
A system for providing consumer access to product origin information. The system includes a server configured to assign a tracking identifier (TID) relating to a specific product and a product information portal (PIP) operably connected to the server, the PIP containing a product information record (PIR) related to an individual TID and providing an interface to a consumer access area such that a consumer accessing the PIP can view a PIR for a selected product.
Abstract:
A single combination task lamp and flashlight instrument, providing separate flood and spot light beams, independently controlled in a three-state sequence by simple push button switches. The two kinds of light beams are produced by separate arrays of compact light emitting devices. both arrays are driven by a single, rechargeable battery powered electrical circuit that provides separate, regulated constant currents to the respective arrays of LEDs. The optics and electronics are constructed in a single, ruggedized, compact module. The module is enclosed within an elongated handle that positions the center of mass for optimum balance of the instrument and the control switches for convenient operation according to the sense of touch.
Abstract:
