摘要： A Master Session Key (MSK) refresh in a wireless communication system is provided. A MSK refreshing method MSK includes when receiving a first Media Access Control (MAC) message including MSK refresh indication information from a Base Station (BS), generating, at a Mobile Station (MS), an Extended Master Session Key (EMSK)_Hash by applying a hash function to an EMSK and sending a second MAC message including the EMSK_Hash, sending, at the BS, a context request message including the EMSK_Hash to an Access Service Network GateWay (ASN-GW), sending, at the ASN-GW, an authentication request message including the EMSK_Hash to an authentication server, when receiving the authentication request message including the EMSK_Hash, confirming, at the authentication server, the same EMSK as the MS based on the EMSK_Hash, determining an MSK1 using the EMSK, and sending an authentication accept message including the MSK1 to the ASN-GW, and sending, at the ASN-GW, a context report message including an Authorization Key (AK) context to the BS.

The CID update information is configured to include a bitmap area indicating whether a service corresponding to the at least one old CID is available, and a new CID area including at least one new CID in correspondence with a predetermined bit value in the bitmap area.

摘要： A method and mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless communication system, wherein a receiver receives configuration information including a type field representing a type of a reduced connection identifier (CID) from a base station, and selectively applies the reduced CID based on the type field. The type of the reduced CID is determined based on a range of a basic CID of the mobile subscriber station connected to the base station. The type field includes at least two bits representing one of use of the basic CID and available types of the reduced CID. The available types represent available lengths of the reduced CID, and the reduced CID includes n Least Significant Bits (LSBs) of the basic CID, where n is a positive integer indicated by the type field.

The method includes transmitting at least one HARQ enabled uplink burst from the subscriber station to the base station; generating ACKnowledgment/Negative ACKnowledgment (ACK/NACK) information according to the received HARQ enabled uplink burst at the base station; mapping the generated ACK/NACK information to a bitmap at the base station; and transmitting the bitmap through a downlink information from the base station to the subscriber station.

摘要： A method for controlling operation modes of a medium access control layer by a mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless access communication system including the mobile subscriber station and a serving base station providing service to the mobile subscriber station is provided. The method includes the steps of: mode-transiting into an idle mode when there is no data transmission between the serving base station and the mobile subscriber station during a predetermined first time interval in an awake mode; detecting movement of the mobile subscriber station in the idle mode into another paging zone covering a target base station, which is different from a paging zone covering the serving base station; and mode-transiting into the awake mode and performing location update together with the target base station when the movement of the mobile subscriber station is detected.
