    Abstract: An antenna configured for low frequency applications on a mobile device includes an antenna element coupled to a conductive structure which, in turn, is coupled to the user of the mobile device such that the user of the mobile device effectively becomes part of the antenna. The conductive structure can include, for example, the device housing being made from a conductive material, a conductive structure embedded inside the device housing, or conductive pads exposed in the device housing. The antenna element is electrically connected to the conductive structure and the user can be coupled to the conductive structure either through direct contact or through capacitive coupling.

    Abstract: An antenna configured for low frequency applications on a mobile device includes an antenna element coupled to a conductive structure which, in turn, is coupled to the user of the mobile device such that the user of the mobile device effectively becomes part of the antenna. The conductive structure can include, for example, the device housing being made from a conductive material, a conductive structure embedded inside the device housing, or conductive pads exposed in the device housing. The antenna element is electrically connected to the conductive structure and the user can be coupled to the conductive structure either through direct contact or through capacitive coupling. In addition, the antenna can include an active element configured to boost free space operation efficiency. The active element can include, for example, a low noise amplifier integrated onto a low noise amplifier board. The active element can be at least partially surrounded by a hollow support structure around which an antenna coil is wrapped, where the antenna coil is coupled to the active element. Furthermore, one or more antenna coils can be utilized either separately or in conjunction with the antenna for low frequency applications, where the one or more antenna coils can have integrated therein inductive components and/or active/switching elements that allow the one or more antenna coils to be tuned to a desired frequency.

    Abstract: An active inductor includes bipolar transistors T1, T2, T3 and TD (TD being arranged in diode), where T1's emitter is connected to an output port and to T2's collector. T2's base is connected to a first voltage line and between two connected capacitors. T2's emitter is connected to T3's collecter. An end of one capacitor is connected to T1's base and to a second voltage line. An end of the other capacitor is connected to T3's emitter and to a third voltage line. T1's collector is connected to a fourth voltage line and to TM's collecter, which is connected to TM's base. TM's emitter is electrically connected to T3's base. Preferably, the transistors T1-T3 and TD are Silicon based, and the active inductor is fabricated on a single substrate comprising Silicon. The active inductor is incorporated into adaptive oscillators and amplifiers and an improved transceiver.

    Abstract: A modal antenna is formed within a battery assembly for use with a portable electronic device. In certain embodiments, the antenna is printed on an exterior surface of a battery enclosure using a conductive ink. In other embodiments, the antenna is attached, or etched, on a substrate; the substrate may at least partially include a battery housing. The antenna can include an Isolated Magnetic Dipole (IMD) antenna, or other radiating structure. Active components, such as active tuning components, are optionally included in the antenna-integrated battery assembly for the purpose of tuning the antenna.

    Abstract: An active differential antenna is described that provides for improved performance for wireless communication systems across a wide set of use cases and environments. A balanced antenna structure along with switch assembly provides the differential mode radiation which results in minimal coupling to the components and items in the near field of the antenna. This results in an efficient antenna that is well isolated from the local environment of the antenna. The switch assembly is configured to switch the feed and ground connections of the differential design when needed to provide similar antenna performance for both “against head left” and “against head right” use cases for a cellular handset application for example. An active component or circuit can be integrated or coupled to the antenna design to provide the capability to dynamically balance the antenna to maintain pattern symmetry and efficiency.
