Abstract: A controller and methods for hybrid operation control of an electric motor in an electric motor system are provided. The controller is configured to receive a speed command for operating the electric motor, measure available voltage on an inverter configured to provide conditioned AC voltage to the electric motor, and determine a winding phase angle difference based on the received speed command and the measured available inverter voltage. The controller is also configured to adjust a phase angle difference between winding voltage commands for the switches of the inverter using the determined winding phase angle difference, and apply the winding voltage commands including the adjusted phase angle difference to the inverter switches to control the electric motor.

Abstract: A system and method of controlling an electric motor using a motor drive controller are provided. The motor drive controller includes a rectifier configured to convert an AC input voltage to a DC voltage, a DC bus electrically coupled to the rectifier, an inverter electrically coupled to the DC bus and configured to generate an AC voltage to drive the electric motor, and a control unit. The control unit includes a sign calculation module configured to determine a polarity of each phase of a reference current command and a compensation module configured to generate a voltage compensation command signal using one of the determined polarities of the reference current command and a measured current, and one of a measurement of DC bus voltage and a constant DC bus voltage value, the voltage compensation signal compensating the drive controller to neutralize a deadtime effect.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a permanent magnet rotor is provided. The permanent magnet rotor includes at least one permanent magnet and a substantially cylindrical rotor core including an outer edge and an inner edge defining a central opening. The rotor core includes a radius R, at least one pole, and at least one radial aperture extending radially though the rotor core from the outer edge to a predetermined depth less than the radius. The at least one radial aperture is configured to receive the at least one permanent magnet. Abstract: A lock for use with an assembly is provided. The assembly includes an inner race having a bore with a generally tapered periphery. The bearing assembly supports a shaft. The bearing lock includes a sleeve having a generally cylindrical internal periphery adapted for cooperation with the shaft and a generally tapered external periphery that cooperates with the bore. The sleeve conforms from a first condition whereby the internal periphery defines a first diameter to a second condition whereby the internal periphery defines a second diameter different than the first. The bearing lock also includes a collar that cooperates with the sleeve to urge the sleeve from the first condition to the second condition. The collar conforms from a first condition whereby the generally cylindrical internal periphery defines a first diameter to a second condition whereby the internal periphery defines a second diameter substantially different than the first.

Abstract: A motor control system includes an inverter and a plurality of current sensors each positioned in-line between the inverter and a phase coil of the motor. Each current sensor measures the current provided to each phase coil of the motor and provides a signal indicative of each phase current to a controller. In some embodiments, the currents sensors are provided as one or more current sense integrated circuits. A protection circuit protects the current sense integrated circuit from ground bounce by coupling a diode and an opposite facing Zener diode in series between the power supply pin and the ground pin of the integrated circuit.

Abstract: A bearing lubricator for lubricating a lubricated bearing is provided. The bearing lubricator includes a reservoir configured to contain lubricant, a bearing lubricator for lubricating a lubricated bearing, a conduit connected to the reservoir and to the bearing; and mechanism and a controller. The mechanism is operably connected to at least one of reservoir and the conduit. The mechanism is adapted to advance the lubricant from the reservoir to the conduit when actuated. The controller stores a triggering value of a parameter. The controller is further adapted to actuate the mechanism when a signal indicative of the triggering value is advanced toward the controller. The bearing lubricator also includes a sensor operably connected to the controller. The sensor is adapted to measure a parameter of a measured bearing and to send a signal to the controller indicative of the value of the parameter.

Abstract: A centrifugal blower for HVACR applications includes a squirrel cage forward-curved blower fan and a scroll housing. The blower fan comprises a plurality of blades that are configured to emit air radially outward and tangentially from between the blades when the blower fan rotates at a first speed. The air so emitted has a deviation angle defined as the difference between the direction of the emitted air and the blade exit angle. The scroll housing has a spline-shaped wall that has an axial cross-section that is configured such that the deviation angle of the air emitted from the blower fan at an axial plane deviates by no more than fifteen percent circumferentially about the blower fan in-between the spline-shaped wall and the blower fan and such that the average tangential velocity of air between the spline-shaped wall and the blower fan deviates by no more than thirty percent.
