Abstract:
A novel method and system for clock and data recovery in high speed serial transceiver applications allowing for fast bit lock acquisition and small data tracking error is presented. The clock and data recovery method utilizes a variable bandwidth loop filter to generate a phase adjustment signal used by a phase interpolator in generating a clock signal at the same frequency and phase as the incoming digital data stream. The loop filter bandwidth may be adjusted to correspond with a plurality of clock and data recovery operating modes. In particular, the filter bandwidth may be set to either a high or a low value depending on whether the phase difference between the recovered clock signal and the incoming digital data stream is above or below a programmed threshold value.
Abstract:
A system and method for managing a production from a wellbore that includes taking measurements relating to one or more selected parameters for each of the production zones over a time period and determining the occurrence of the cross flow in the wellbore using a trend of the one or more of the measurements. The system includes a processor that receives information relating to the measurements made over time relating to the selected parameters, wherein the processor determines or predicts the occurrence of the cross flow from a trend of at least one of the measurements.

Abstract:
A category overlay infrastructure for Peer-to-Peer (P2P) content search and a cost-effective large-scale on-demand media streaming are described. Based on a novel hierarchical P2P model, the category overlay infrastructure can provide good load balancing and efficient keyword search services for large-scale networks. The category overlay search services may be applied for locating video segments. The on-demand media streaming architecture can apply an efficient media segment scheduling algorithm and aggregate concurrent media streaming from multiple sources to allow users to play high-quality video or other media.
Abstract:
In a technique for video segmentation, classification and summarization based on the singular value decomposition, frames of the input video sequence are represented by vectors composed of concatenated histograms descriptive of the spatial distributions of colors within the video frames. The singular value decomposition maps these vectors into a refined feature space. In the refined feature space produced by the singular value decomposition, the invention uses a metric to measure the amount of information contained in each video shot of the input video sequence. The most static video shot is defined as an information unit, and the content value computed from this shot is used as a threshold to cluster the remaining frames. The clustered frames are displayed using a set of static keyframes or a summary video sequence. The video segmentation technique relies on the distance between the frames in the refined feature space to calculate the similarity between frames in the input video sequence. The input video sequence is segmented based on the values of the calculated similarities. Finally, average video attribute values in each segment are used in classifying the segments.
Abstract:
A preconnectorized outdoor cable streamlines the deployment of optical waveguides into the last mile of an optical network. The preconnectorized outdoor cable includes a cable and at least one plug connector. The plug connector is attached to a first end of the cable, thereby connectorizing at least one optical waveguide. The cable has at least one optical waveguide, at least one tensile element, and a cable jacket. Various cable designs such as figure-eight or flat cables may be used with the plug connector. In preferred embodiments, the plug connector includes a crimp assembly having a crimp housing and a crimp band. The crimp housing has two half-shells being held together by the crimp band for securing the at least one tensile element. When fully assembled, the crimp housing fits into a shroud of the preconnectorized cable. The shroud aides in mating the preconnectorized cable with a complimentary receptacle.
Abstract:
A one-piece fiber optic receptacle is provided for aligning and optically connecting a plug ferrule with a back-side ferrule of like configuration. The fiber optic receptacle includes a receptacle housing defining an internal cavity opening through an external end and an opposed internal end, an alignment sleeve disposed within the internal cavity and received within the internal end of the receptacle housing, and a sleeve retainer secured to the internal end of the receptacle housing and operable for providing access to the alignment sleeve from the internal end of the receptacle housing. The alignment sleeve includes a chamfer for guiding the back-side ferrule into the alignment sleeve. The sleeve retainer has an opening and a plurality of alignment ribs disposed about the opening for permitting angular rotation of the alignment sleeve relative to the sleeve retainer during insertion of the plug ferrule and the back-side ferrule into the alignment sleeve.
Abstract:
A method and related software are provided for analyzing images such as computerized tomography images obtained from a standard perfusion CT software package. This method converts image values to relative differences, which represents meaningful side-to-side asymmetry. This conversion may be performed by comparing a small region of the scan to the corresponding region in the contralateral hemisphere, quantifying the degree of relative difference using statistical techniques, and representing this quantity of relative difference in a two dimensional or three diemnsional relative difference map.
