摘要: Digital calculation of an RSSI value begins by digitally calculating a magnitude of a signal (e.g., a received RF signal or representation thereof). The process then continues by filtering the magnitude of the signal to produce a filtered magnitude signal. The process then continues by determining a coarse RSSI value of the filtered magnitude signal, wherein the coarse RSSI value indicates a sliding window of RSSI values. Once the coarse RSSI value is obtained, the process continues by determining a fine RSSI value within the sliding window of RSSI values. The process concludes by summing the fine RSSI value with the coarse RSSI value to produce a digital RSSI value.

摘要: Hybrid location determination for wireless communication device. Various services that may be used by a wireless communication device within a particular location may be referred to as location based services (LBS). As such, means by which the location of a wireless communication device that may use such available services, within such a locale, is made by using more than one type of location determination approach. For example, a wireless communication device includes communication capability (e.g., RX and TX) in accordance with a first communication protocol (e.g., Bluetooth) and also includes a communication capability (e.g., RX only) in accordance with a second communication protocol (e.g., WiFi/WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network)). The RX capability is operative to assist in location determination for the wireless communication device based on knowledge of at least one wireless communication device that communicates with the wireless communication device.

摘要: Determination and processing for fractional-N programming values. The present invention is operable to receive a clock signal (CLK) and to transform that CLK into a new CLK, when necessary, for use by various circuitries within a system. The present invention is operable to generate two different CLKs for use by a radio frequency (RF) circuitry and a baseband processing circuitry in certain embodiments. The present invention employs a measurement circuitry and to characterize a first CLK and uses a fractional-N synthesizer to perform any necessary processing to generate the one or more CLKs to the other CLKs within the system. The first CLK may be received from an external source or it may be generated internally; in either case, the present invention is able to modify the CLK into another CLK for use by other circuitries within the system or for use by another external device.

摘要: A method for calibrating a filter begins with the filter filtering a first signal having a first frequency to produce a first filtered signal, wherein the first frequency is in a known pass region of the filter. The processing continues by measuring signal strength of the first filtered signal to produce a first measured signal strength. The processing continues with the filter filtering a second signal having a second frequency to produce a second filtered signal, wherein the second frequency is at a desired corner frequency of the filter. The processing continues by measuring signal strength of the second filtered signal to produce a second measured signal strength. The processing continues by comparing the first measured signal strength with the second measured signal strength to determine whether the filter has attenuated the second signal by a desired attenuation value with respect to the first signal. The processing continues by adjusting filter response of the filter to produce an adjusted filter response when the filter has not attenuated the second signal by the desired attenuation value with respect to the first signal.

摘要: A method for adjusting automatic gain control of a radio receiver begins by determining power level of a radio frequency (RF) signal received by the radio receiver to produce a determined power level. The method then continues by comparing the determined power level with a plurality of power thresholds to determine whether an automatic gain adjustment is needed. The method then continues, when the automatic gain adjustment is needed, by determining, from the comparing the determined power level with the plurality of power thresholds, a sign of the automatic gain adjustment. The method continues by determining, from the comparing the determined power level with the plurality of power thresholds, a magnitude of the automatic gain adjustment. The method continues by addressing a gain adjustment look up table for at least a portion of the radio receiver based on the magnitude to produce a gain setting. The method then continues by adjusting the automatic gain of the radio receiver based on the sign of the automatic gain adjustment and the gain setting.

摘要: An on chip diversity antenna switch includes a first switch, a second switch, a third switch, and a fourth switch. The first switch is operably coupled to a pin associated with a first antenna, to a transmit path and to receive a transmit receive (T/R) control signal. The second switch is operably coupled to the pin associated with the first antenna, to a receive path, and to receive the T/R control signal. The third switch is operably coupled to a pin associated with a second antenna, the transmit path, and to receive the T/R control signal. The fourth switch is operably coupled to the pin associated with the second antenna, to the receive path, and to receive the T/R control signal. Based on the T/R control signal, the first or second antenna is coupled to the transmit or receive path via a single switch.
