Abstract: A control plane of a network, including radios of a radio access network controlled by the control plane and user plane functions controlled by the control plane, establishes first and second protocol data unit (PDU) connections each to handle the same flows of traffic for ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) from user equipment to a data network through first and second source radios, respectively. Due to mobility of the user equipment, the control plane relocates the flows from the first and second source radios to first and second target radios, respectively. To relocate the flows, the control plane receives from the first target radio a notification that identifies flows that cannot be activated on the first target radio. In response to the notification, the control plane commands the first target radio to prioritize the flows that cannot be activated above remaining ones of the flows.

Abstract: A network slice controller obtains health information of an active network slice provided by a first vendor and health information of a set of backup network slices provided by a second vendor. The network slice controller evaluates, using a set of policies corresponding to management of the active network slice, the health information of the active network slice to determine whether the active network slice has failed. As a result of the failure of the active network slice, the network slice controller identifies one or more backup network slices of the set of backup network slices to serve as new active network slices. The network slice controller activates these one or more backup network slices to serve as the new active network slices for the network.

Abstract: An Evolved Node B (eNB) provides an internet indication to a User Equipment (UE) to enable the UE to quickly obtain internet access. The eNB determines that the eNB is connected to at least one gateway that provides public internet access, and broadcasts an internet indication in a predetermined System Information Block (SIB). The eNB receives an attach request from the UE including an attach type of internet enabled and a Packet Data Network (PDN) type of internet enabled. The eNB forwards the attach request to a Mobility Management Entity (MME).

Abstract: Methods are provided which indicate availability of the same service on a different access network. In these methods, the network controller generates an identifier for each of one or more services provided by a wireless local access network (WLAN). The identifier is associated with a particular service which is also provided by a private radio network. The network controller provides to an access point the identifier to be broadcast to one or more user devices of the WLAN to connect to the particular service via the private radio network. A mobility management entity receives a request from a user device to connect to the private network, where the request includes an identifier associated with a particular service provided to the user device in the WLAN and based on the identifier, the mobility management entity enables the particular service to be provided to the user device via the private radio network.

Abstract: In one implementation, the method comprises, in response to obtaining a request to associate an electronic device with the one or more WLAN termination nodes: generating, between a base station and a networking device, a control link based on a first identifier associated with the base station; generating, between the networking device and a first WLAN termination node, a control link based on a second identifier that corresponds to a pseudonym for the base station; and associating the first and second identifiers in a control table. The method further comprises: instantiating, between the base station and the networking device, a first data tunnel associated with a first tunneling protocol; instantiating, between the networking device and the first WLAN termination node, a second data tunnel associated with a second tunneling protocol; and associating the first and second data tunnels.

Abstract: An example method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving a session request for a user equipment (UE) at a node, wherein the session request includes a timestamp for the UE and a retry count; determining if the session request is a stray session request; and maintaining session information for an existing session for the UE at the node if the session request is a stray session request. The method can include identifying the received session request as a stray request if the timestamp received in the request is less than a timestamp stored for an existing session for the UE. The method can also include identifying the received request as a stray request if the timestamp received is equal to the timestamp stored for the existing session and if the retry count received is less than or equal to a retry count stored for the session.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed at systems, methods and media for providing bearer call-back services for bearers that have been rejected or pre-empted by a network apparatus in a core network. In some embodiments, if a network apparatus enters a state in which it becomes necessary to reject or pre-empt a bearer associated with a user equipment (UE) (e.g., due to load conditions in a radio access network, the core network, or an application server), the network apparatus can send to the UE a call-back message when the network apparatus exits the state that precipitated the bearer rejection or pre-emption. By sending a call-back message, the network apparatus can save the UE from multiple unsuccessful attempts to establish a bearer, or from waiting an unnecessarily long time before establishing a bearer.
