摘要: An electric power generating buoy capable of generating power by scavenging energy from ocean wave motion. The power generating buoy includes float element adapted to float up and down following wave motion and an electric generator system with a spring loaded spool mechanism adapted to drive the rotor of the electric generator. It also includes an anchor element and a tension element attached to an anchor and the spring loaded spool mechanism and adapted to spin the spring loaded spool mechanism to generate electric current when wave action causes the float element to rise relative to the anchor element. Preferred embodiments of the buoy will deliver a minimum of 100 Watts of average power from the wave motion characteristic of moderate sea state (sea state 3), with less power from slight sea state (sea state 2) and more power from higher sea states. The basic power generation scheme will rely on harnessing the mechanical energy of the wave as it repeatedly pushes the buoyant surface float against a ballast force through the distance corresponding to the wave height.

摘要: A phased array ultrasonic probe assembly includes, in an exemplary embodiment, a housing and a phased array transducer supported inside the housing. The housing includes a first side wall and an opposing second side wall, and a first end wall and an opposing second end wall. The first and second side walls and the first and second end walls define a housing cavity in which the phased array transducer is positioned. The first and second side walls each have an inside surface that include a plurality of projections.

摘要: A very low bit rate communication system. In preferred embodiments, an off-the-shelf module is adapted to convert a speaker's voice to text. A processor is provided to separate the text into individual words. The processor is programmed with a dictionary which provides pre-assigned specific 14-bit numeric values to each word in the dictionary (words used more frequently may be assigned shorter codes). The processor creates a numeric stream from 14-bit numeric values and this numeric stream is then transmitted to a receiver. Typical speech contains 4 words/second, so bit rates as low as 50 bits/second may be achieved with this technique. At the receiving end, the stream of received 14-bit numeric values, representing the speaker's words, are looked up in a dictionary identical to that at the transmitting end and the text of the words reconstructed. Text-to-speech techniques common to the industry are then used to regenerate the speech.

摘要: A radio radio quasi-circulator-jammer system, which connects a transceiver and a jammer unit to a single antenna, for isolating the transceiver from the co-located transmitter jammer. The radio quasi-circulator-jammer system includes includes a quasi-circulator having a transformer, a matched electrical load having an electrical impedance substantially matched to the antenna electrical impedance and three radio signal splitters adapted to split incoming radio power signals into two substantially equal outgoing radio power signals. The three radio signal splitters and said transformer are arranged produce: a circulation within the quasi-circulator of about one-half of output power of the jammer transmitter and the communication transmitter in a first direction and a circulation of about one-half of said output power of the jammer transmitter and the communication transmitter in a second direction opposite said first direction and a circulation within said quasi-circulator of about one-half of input power received by said antenna in said first direction and a circulation of one-half of said input power received by said antenna said second direction; with the transformer positioned within said quasi-circulator so that substantially all output power of the two transmitters that is not otherwise transmitted or dissipated is cancelled in said transformer.

摘要: A computer system (1) is described for programming and testing microcontrollers (8). The computer System (1) includes an interactive design environment (20) comprising a configuration module (22), an assembler (24), a compiler (26) and a debugger (28). The compiler (26), assembler (24) and debugger (28) all enable high level program data (30) to be converted into binary code and stored within a program store to control the functioning of a CPU included within a micro-controller (8). The configuration module (22) is such to enable a user to generate a configuration program (30) for storing values in registers for controlling the settings of inbuilt peripherals in the micro-controller (8) and the routing of signals to and from the peripherals. The register values for routing signals are identified in a two stage process. Firstly utilising the configuration module (22) a user identifies which peripherals are to be enabled. A user interface is then generated to illustrate possible configurations for routing the signals necessary for the identified set of peripherals. A user can then select which of the identified sets of configuration data should be used to generate a configuration program (20).

摘要: An animal watering valve has an elastomeric diaphragm disposed in a bore of a housing upstream of a valve seat and having apertures formed therethrough for the passage of water. A valve stem has a head clamped between the diaphragm and the valve seat and a tail that is laterally deflectable to move the valve stem head relative to the diaphragm from a seated position. Upon moving it to an unseated position, the valve stem head pivots relative to the valve seat to permit water to flow out of the valve. At least portions of the flow aperture outlets in the diaphragm are located radially inwardly of and axially upstream of the upstream surface of the valve stem head.
