    摘要: A surgical instrument system that includes a housing and a rotatable drive shaft, a motor operably coupled to the drive shaft, and a plurality of replaceable end effectors that can be connected to the housing. Each replaceable end effector includes a drive screw that is turned a fixed number of revolutions by the motor-driven rotatable drive shaft when the end effector is connected to the housing. Each end effector further comprises a firing member operably coupled with the drive screw of the end effector. The drive screw is configured to displace the firing member over a firing length as a result of the fixed number of revolutions. In certain embodiments, each replaceable end effector can include a drive screw with a thread pitch set to the firing length divided by the fixed number of revolutions.

The surgical system comprises a housing comprising an attachment portion configured to be mounted to the surgical robot and a plurality of rotary drive members configured to transmit rotary motions. The surgical system further comprises an elongate shaft, an end effector, an articulation joint, a first closure system, a second closure system, and a camming member. The end effector comprises a first jaw, a second jaw, a removable fastener cartridge, and a drive screw configured to rotate in response to a rotary motion. The first closure system is configured to actuate a cable in response to a rotary motion. The second closure system comprises a coupling member operably attached to the drive screw and configured to move the first jaw toward a clamped position when actuated. The camming member is configured to eject fasteners from the fastener cartridge.

    摘要: A surgical severing and stapling instrument, suitable for laparoscopic and endoscopic clinical procedures, clamps tissue within an end effector of an elongate channel pivotally opposed by an anvil. An E-beam firing bar moves distally through the clamped end effector to sever tissue and to drive staples on each side of the cut. The E-beam firing bar affirmatively spaces the anvil from the elongate channel to assure properly formed closed staples, especially when an amount of tissue is clamped that is inadequate to space the end effector. In particular, an upper pin of the firing bar longitudinally moves through an anvil slot and a channel slot is captured between a lower cap and a middle pin of the firing bar to assure a minimum spacing. Forming the E-beam from a thickened distal portion and a thinned proximal strip enhances manufacturability and facilitates use in such articulating surgical instruments.

The drive system is configured to generate a low actuation rate rotary motion during a first operating mode and a high actuation rate rotary motion during a second operating mode. The control system comprises a user interface configured to allow a user to selectively switch between the first and second operating modes. The locking system prevents the advancement of the drive member if the unspent staple cartridge is not correctly seated in the end effector. The rotatable member is operably coupled with the drive system and is in operable engagement with the drive member.
