    摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support; at least one lower magnetic layer containing magnetic powder and a binder resin, which is formed on one side of the non-magnetic support with or without a non-magnetic primer layer interposed between the non-magnetic support and the lower magnetic layer; at least one non-magnetic intermediate layer containing non-magnetic powder and a binder resin, which is formed on the lower magnetic layer; at least one upper magnetic layer containing magnetic powder and a binder resin, which is formed on the non-magnetic intermediate layer; and a back layer which is formed on the other side of the non-magnetic support, characterized in that the magnetic powder contained in the uppermost magnetic layer of the upper magnetic layer is iron type magnetic powder which comprises substantially spherical or ellipsoidal particles with a number-average particle diameter of 5 to 50 nm and an average axial ratio of 1 to 2, each of said particles containing iron or containing iron as a main component and a transition element; and that the total thickness of the magnetic recording medium is 6 μm or less. This magnetic recording medium has electromagnetic conversion characteristics which cannot be achieved by any of conventional magnetic recording media, and also is expected to have excellent magnetic serve characteristics.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for encoding audio data and a method and apparatus for decoding audio data, which can generate and decode, respectively, scalable lossless streams and which can shorten the time necessary to generate and decode lossless streams. A lossy-core encoder unit performs lossy compression on an input audio signal, generating a core stream. A simplified lossy-core decoding unit decodes only spectral signals of a specified band, e.g., a lower frequency band to generate a lossy decoded audio signal. A subtracter subtracts a lossy decoded audio signal from the input audio signal delayed to generate a residual signal. A rounding-off unit performs a process of rounding off the number of bits constituting the residual signal. A lossless-enhance encoder unit performs lossless compression on the residual signal to generate an enhanced stream. A stream-combining unit combines the core stream and the enhanced stream to generate a scalable lossless stream.

    摘要: A public-key-encryption data-communication system includes a public-key-certificate issuer authority. The public-key-certificate issuer authority performs the issuance of a public key certificate and management operations, certification of a subject to be certificated, which is a certificate issuing request, and management such as registration processing are executed by a root registration authority or each registration authority. The public-key-certificate issuer authority performs processing for validating, invalidating, and deleting the certificate in accordance with a request from the root registration authority. The root registration authority accepts a request for issuing a public key certificate corresponding to the subject to be certificated which is under the control of a certificated registration authority, and transfers it to the public-key-certificate issuer authority in a form in which a signature is added to it. Processes by the public-key-certificate issuer authority, the root registration authority, the registration authority are separated, whereby the need for new implementation of user recognition, certificate issuance, registration, and management is eliminated.

    摘要: A driving apparatus in a printing press includes a plate cylinder driven by a printing press motor, an inking device drive-coupled to the plate cylinder, and a driving connecting/disconnecting mechanism. The mechanism connects and disconnects transmission of driving from the plate cylinder to the inking device, and includes first and second gears which are engageable with each other, supported rotatably, and constantly drive-coupled to one and the remaining one, respectively, of the plate cylinder and inking device. The second gear has a second engaging portion engageable with a plurality of first engaging portions of the first gear which have the same shape and are equidistantly arranged in a rotational direction of the first gear. When the first and second engaging portions engage, the plate cylinder and inking device are drive-coupled; when they are disengaged, they are disconnected. The number of first engaging portions is set on the basis of a value related to the first gear, so that when the plate cylinder reaches a phase identical to that where the first and second engaging portions disengage, the first and second engaging portions can engage regardless of a driving connection ratio of one of the plate cylinder and inking device to the first gear.
