摘要:
This invention is an exceptionally flexible, ultrasoft vaso-occlusive or embolism forming device. It is made of a radiopaque material which may be braided or coiled to form a long, thin threadlike device having little rigidity or column strength. The diameter of the device may be less than about 0.010 inches. The device is sufficiently flexible and small that it may be hydraulically delivered to a site within the vasculature of the human body using an injected drug or fluid flush through a catheter. The device assumes a loose, random mass of threadlike material after being ejected from the catheter tip at the chosen vascular site. The device (whether coil or braid) may be used alone or in conjunction with larger coils or braids to achieve a denser occlusion or as a substrate to localize the subsequent infusion of tissue adhesives, particulate embolization devices, or chemotherapeutic agents in abnormal blood vessels and tissues or for the temporary occlusion of blood vessels during types of diminished blood flow testing. The invention also include processes for introducing the devices into the human body.

A plurality of embodiments of a distal perfusion device are disclosed, which device facilitates anastomosis constructions by maintaining a dry anastomosis site while simultaneously maintaining blood flow distally in the blood vessel to prevent ischemia and reduce overall patient trauma. The perfusion device is configured for installation into a blood vessel such as a left anterior descending coronary artery through an incision therein, to which is to be grafted a distal end of a blood vessel such as an internal mammary artery. The device includes a central member of selected configuration and material, terminating at either end thereof in respective selectively tapered end members. A lumen extending through the central member and end members, and selected perforations in the end members, maintain blood flow through the perfusion device. A selected portion or portions of the device's outer circumference fit snugly within the artery in the regions beyond and/or at the anastomosis site, to maintain the latter free of blood. Several methods for deploying and removing respective embodiments of the device also are illustrated.

A catheter guide wire comprising: a flexible, torqueable proximal wire section, a more flexible intermediate section with a flexible polymer tube covering, and a most flexible distal end section. A helical ribbon coil is wrapped about the intermediate core segment between the wire core and the polymer tube covering to increase radiopacity and improve torque transmission while retaining flexibility.

An aneurysm treatment device for in situ treatment of aneurysms comprises a collapsible member having a first shape wherein the first shape is an expanded geometric configuration, and a second shape, wherein the second shape is a collapsed configuration that is loadable into a catheter. The aneurysm treatment device is capable or returning to the first shape in the sac of an aneurysm upon deployment, where it occludes the aneurysm. In another embodiment an occlusion device comprises a flexible, longitudinally extending elastomeric matrix member that assumes a non-linear shape to conformally fill a targeted vascular site.

Provided herein are systems, devices and methods for the correction of spinal deformities with the use one or more implantable rods configured to apply a corrective force to the spine. Methods of minimally invasive implantation of a corrective system are provided, such as where the corrective system is attached only to the spinous process of one or more vertebral bodies. Various corrective systems as well as components thereof are also provided, such as those that allow limited movement with respect to the spinal column.

Devices and methods for removing an obstruction from a blood vessel are described. The devices are deployed in a collapsed condition and are then expanded within the body. The devices are then manipulated to engage and remove the obstruction.
摘要:
Devices and methods for coupling, delivery, detaching and controllably releasing a medical implant, and methods for the assembly and use of the devices, provide for mechanically simple and rapidly operated release of the implant without disturbing its precisely selected position. Embodiments of various aspects of the present invention employ, among other structures, a loop or other aperture-bearing engagement element releasably held by a mating retaining element, in some instances with the assistance of a member for constraining the engagement element relative to the retaining element. In another aspect, the loop or other aperture-bearing element may be at least temporarily placed in a tensile state to maintain coupling of the implant prior to release. Embodiments of the invention permit release through a practitioner actuation, such as causing one or more rotations that lead to the withdrawal of the retaining element from the loop or aperture-bearing element. Release may be immediate, or near-immediate, while the loop, which may in various embodiments be of a flexible material, is left behind with minimal or no disturbance of the implant.
