Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an optical disk having a projection that prevents full contact of the upper surface of the disk when engaging a supporting surface. The optical disk includes a projection formed in a central portion of the optical disk that abuts or is near the upper surface of a protecting layer.
Abstract:
An information recording and reproducing apparatus which records information on a medium and reproduces information stored on the medium includes a write compensation circuit configured to perform compensation of the information recorded on the medium, wherein the write compensation circuit corrects, in advance, an asymmetry of a signal read from the medium by correcting a write signal in a pulse form along a time axis, and an amount of correction along the time axis is based on information included in the write signal.
Abstract:
A method of constructing an effective generator polynomial for error correction by which a unique set of syndromes for each error event is produced is provided. The method includes preparing a set of dominant error events from the intersymbol interference characteristics of media; and generating a codeword from the data using a non-primitive generator polynomial that produces a unique syndrome set which can completely specify each dominant error event.
Abstract:
A system for measuring a fluid level using an acoustic impedance matching is disclosed, which is capable of accurately measuring a fluid level using a flat panel medium, in particular, polyethylene, with the flat panel medium being impedance-matched with an object medium. The flat panel medium having the same acoustic impedance as the object medium is used, and the limit switch is directly connected through the flat panel medium, so that the angle coincidence problems are resolved. Since the sizes of signals are high, the construction of the electronic circuit is simplified, and the fabrication process is easy. The price of the system is low. Since polyethylene is used as the flat panel medium, the impedance matching with the object medium is easily achieved. Therefore, the present invention may be well adapted to measuring the fluid level.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing at least one plant disease resulted from infection of plant pathogens and a method for preparing the same. Particularly, the composition contains extract of at least one plant selected from the group consisting of Coptis chinensis Franch., Phellodendron genus plant, Sanguinaria canadensis and Chelidonium majus var. asiaticum which are natural plants having anti-plant pathogen activity or berberine which is purified therefrom. The composition of the present invention can be effectively used for preventing disease pathogens such as plant powdery mildew, anthracnose of pepper, damping-off of cucumber and gray mold rot of strawberry resulted from infection of plant pathogens such as Colletrotrichum gloeosporiodes, Pythium ultimum or Botrytis cinerea. For an alternative method for preparing the composition comprising berberine and/or derivatives thereof, the present invention provides various optimal culture condition and two phases cultivation methods using Phellodendron genus plant.
Abstract:
The present invention provides multi-component inhibitors of nucleic acid polymerases, methods of making, and methods of using same. One component of the multi-component inhibitor is a molecule that binds to a polymerase (i.e., a polymerase-binding molecule (PBM)), but does not thereby substantially inhibit its polymerase activity. Another component is a molecule or complex of molecules that binds to a PBM (i.e., a PBM-binding molecule). The combination of the PBM and PBM-binding molecule/complex substantially inhibits polymerase activity.
Abstract:
A thin projector is disclosed. The thin projector includes a housing having an upright panel shape, an illumination unit arranged in the interior of the housing, the illumination unit generating light and emitting the generated light, a micro device arranged in the interior of the housing, the micro device receiving the light from the illumination unit and producing an image using the received light, and a projection lens unit arranged in the interior of the housing, the projection lens unit including an emission unit adapted to externally emit the image produced by the micro device and arranged to be externally exposed through a front side of the housing.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for reproducing a MIDI-based music file are provided. According to the apparatus and method, a plurality of notes and note reproduction times are extracted from the MIDI file, a section where envelope values of sound source samples exponentially reduce is changed into a linear section, and the sound source samples are outputted according to the note reproduction times by reflecting the slope of the linear section.
Abstract:
Provided are a rate 13/15 MTR code encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The encoding method includes: generating a predetermined rate-13/15 MTR code in which 13-bit data corresponds to 15-bit data; outputting input 13-bit data as a 15-bit codeword according to the rate-13/15 MTR code; checking whether codewords satisfy a predetermined constraint condition by connecting the 15-bit codeword and a subsequent 15-bit codeword; and converting specific bits of the codewords if the codewords violate the constraint condition and not converting the codewords if the codewords do not violate the constraint condition. The rate-13/15 MTR (j=2, k=8) code includes: 8192 codewords obtained to prevent the number of consecutive transitions from becoming 3 at code boundaries in a modulation coding process. Data can be reliably reproduced with high write density, and a large amount of data can be stored in and reproduced from a magnetic recording information storage medium.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for reproducing a MIDI file are provided. In the apparatus and the method, notes and note reproduction times are extracted from the MIDI file and a difference between a start point and an end point in a Loop section of relevant sound source data according to the note reproduction time is detected and stored. The above stored difference between the start point and end point of the sound source data which will be reproduced is compensated and outputted, so that sound quality distortion in the Loop section is eliminated or reduced.
