It is detected that the data comprises an attachment. An address of a copy of the attachment is determined, the attachment present on a storage device external to the communication devices. An address of the copy of the attachment is substituted in the data such that the copy is retrievable at the second communication device via the address. The data is then transmitted to the second communication device.

A publishing application monitors actions performed on the mobile communication device and enables selection of at least one of the actions. Content associated with selected actions may be stored and data associated with at least one of the selected actions and the content associated with at least one selected action may be extracted. The multi-media information may be displayed on a graphical user interface in a pre-selected format, such as a chronologically arranged list. Users may preview and modify the multi-media information before publication through a pre-selected communication service. The multi-media information may be published by selecting an icon, including an image identifying the pre-selected communication service. The mobile communication device generates content that users may efficiently modify and publish to a desired communication service.

摘要： A method and handheld electronic device for displaying text in accordance with a user-specified font attributes are provided. Where the text comprises formatted sections of varying font sizes, the font size settings are set according to a default font size specified for the device to provide a readable display of text. Text with a font size above a maximum threshold is set to a large font size appropriate for the device display. Text with a font size below a minimum threshold is set to a small font size appropriate for the device display. Text with a font size between the minimum and maximum thresholds is set to the default font size for the device. The font face of the text may be set to a user-specified font face, however, fixed-width fonts are unchanged in order to preserve spacing and formatting associated with text in fixed-width format.

摘要： Labels can be rendered on a map displayed on a wireless communications device by using pre-rendered characters. The pre-rendered characters can be pre-rotated to one of a number of angular orientations and stored as a variable transparency bitmap for rapid overlaying on the map. The bitmap can include an array or grid of characters wherein each row has a unique orientation, for example, ranging from zero to ninety degrees. Rotations of 90 to 360 degrees can then be achieved by reflecting the characters about vertical or horizontal axes. Overlaying pre-rotated characters is more computationally efficient than computing rotations for each character when rendering the label.

摘要： A device management method, is disclosed in which available features on a slave mobile device are managed (monitored or controlled) by a slave manager module commanded by a master device through secure messages exchanged between the two devices using respective electronic messaging capabilities on the two devices. Selection of the features of the slave mobile device to be controlled or monitored is facilitated on the master device through a master manager module resident thereon. The features that are controlled or monitored may comprise any user-accessible feature incorporated or installed on the slave mobile device and user access to the feature may be prevented according to at least one criterion, such as: date of use, time of day of use, number of times of use, originator and recipient. User access to the feature may be prevented access to the user-accessible feature when usage limitations for the feature have been reached.
