    Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses for wireless communications are described that support techniques for initial access in wireless systems. Generally, the described techniques provide for communicating satellite information to simplify initial access procedures. A wireless communications system may signal relevant information (e.g., Doppler information or propagation delay information) associated with communications through a satellite to mobile terminals (e.g., user equipment (UEs)). The mobile terminals may utilize the relevant information to generate an uplink transmission (e.g., a random access message or an initial access message) that compensates for the Doppler shift and propagation delay that may be experienced by communications between the mobile terminals and the satellite.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for half-duplex frequency division duplexing (HD-FDD) hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) operation are described. The base station may receive a message from a user equipment (UE) indicative of a duplexing capability of the UE. The base station may then select a HARQ process limit based on the duplexing capability. In some examples, the base station may anticipate a collision between an uplink (UL) transmission and a downlink (DL) subframe based on the selected HARQ process limit. The base station may then schedule a transmission to avoid the anticipated collision. In some examples, the base station may limit a number of configurations available for channel quality indicator (CQI) or a precoding matrix indicator (PMI).

In some aspects, a transmitting device may add a first extension before modulated symbols of a communication, the first extension including data from an end portion of the modulated symbols. The transmitting device may add a second extension after the modulated symbols, the second extension including data from a beginning portion of the modulated symbols. The transmitting device may apply a first weighting function that overlaps the first extension and the beginning portion of the modulated symbols. The transmitting device may apply a second weighting function that overlaps the end portion of the modulated symbols and the second extension. The transmitting device may add one or more of a header before the first extension or a tail after the second extension. The transmitting device may transmit the communication.     Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support mechanisms for non-coherent, sequence-based downlink control signaling in a wireless communication system. In aspects, the mechanisms for non-coherent, sequence-based downlink control signaling may include a new non-coherent, sequence-based downlink control channel or signal transmitted from a base station to a user equipment (UE) and configured to convey information bits (e.g., control information bits) to the UE. The UE may receive a signal transmitted over the new non-coherent, sequence-based downlink control channel and may decode the signal to extract the control information. The UE may then apply a control based on the control information received from the base station in the signal over the non-coherent, sequence-based downlink control channel.

In some systems, a user equipment (UE) and a network entity may support conditional cross-carrier hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmissions. The UE may transmit a capability message to the network entity to indicate a capability of the UE to support the cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions. The UE or the network entity may transmit a message on a first component carrier. The UE or the network entity may retransmit the message on a second component carrier based on an availability of resources for retransmitting the message, based on the capability of the UE, and based on one or more conditions associated with communications by the UE satisfying a threshold condition for cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions. For uplink communications, the UE may perform the transmitting and conditional retransmitting. A first wireless device may receive a signal including multiple sets of bits, where each set of bits of the multiple sets of bits is associated with either a first group or a second group based on a respective modulation index for each set of bits. Each set of bits may map to one or more additional bits based on an association of each set of bits with the first group, the second group, or both. The first wireless device may decode either or both of a first message formed at least partially by the one or more additional bits or a second message formed at least partially by respective sets of bits associated with the second group. Each of the first and second messages may be for different channels or for different wireless devices.
