摘要: A system and method for discriminating cardiac rhythms occurring in an antegrade direction from cardiac rhythms occurring in a retrograde direction. Atrial and ventricular contractions are sensed, from which atrial and ventricular cycle lengths are determined. Ventricular contractions are also analyzed to determine the occurrence of a tachycardia episode that has a one-to-one association of atrial contractions to ventricular contractions. During a tachycardia episode having a one-to-one association of atrial contractions to ventricular contractions, the atrial cycle lengths are paired with the ventricular cycle lengths, where for each of the atrial cycle lengths the atrial cycle length is paired with at least one ventricular cycle length started before the first atrial contraction of each of the atrial cycle lengths and paired with at least one ventricular cycle length started after the first atrial contraction of each of the atrial cycle lengths. A retrograde correlation coefficient is then determined for the atrial cycle lengths paired with the ventricular cycle lengths started before the first atrial contraction, and an antegrade correlation coefficient is determined for the atrial cycle lengths paired with the ventricular cycle lengths started after the first atrial contraction. The tachycardiac episode is then classified based on a comparison of the antegrade correlation coefficient and the retrograde correlation coefficient.

摘要: A method and apparatus for implementing a signal morphology preservation smoothing scheme. The smoothing scheme includes generating an output signal representative of a filtered version of the input signal, wherein the output signal is generated by adaptively removing low amplitude, high frequency noise components while simultaneously preserving signal morphology of the input signal. The smoothing scheme includes comparison of a distance metric against a distance threshold to determine whether an initial smoothed version of the input signal would be oversmoothed or undersmoothed. Then the smoothing scheme appropriately increments, decrements, or maintains the initial level of smoothing to generate an optimal smoothed signal representative of the output signal.

摘要: A method and a system for preserving patient specific data in implantable pulse generator systems. A communication link is established with a first implantable pulse generator. Electronic cardiac data contained within the first implantable pulse generator is retrieved through the communication link. The electronic cardiac data is then electronically downloaded to a second implantable pulse generator. Prior to downloading, the electronic cardiac data can be formatted into a format compatible with the second implantable pulse generator.

摘要: A cardiac rhythm management system predicts when an arrhythmia will occur and in one embodiment invokes a therapy to prevent or reduce the consequences of the arrhythmia. A cardiac arrhythmia trigger/marker is detected from a patient, and based on the trigger/marker, the system estimates a probability of a cardiac arrhythmia occurring during a predetermined future time interval. The system provides a list of triggers/markers, for which detection values are recurrently obtained at various predetermined time intervals. Based on detection values and conditional probabilities associated with the triggers/markers, a probability estimate of a future arrhythmia is computed. An arrhythmia prevention therapy is selected and activated based on the probability estimate of the future arrhythmia.

摘要: Tilting filter pans is disclosed having generally parallel leading and trailing sidewalls which are sloped at an angle to permit increased filtration rates for a predetermined filtering efficiency, and also to permit increased filtering efficiency where the feed rate is constant. The feed is a slurry from which the liquid is removed, and the filter cake being dumped by rotation of each filter pan at a predetermined point of movement of the filter pan along a cyclical path. Hold-down devices having a reduced volume are also used in combination with the improved pan design, so that an increased filtration rate is possible due to decrease in the required filter cake height. A cam arrangement is provided for turning the pans with minimum stress in a minimum length of pan travel, while avoiding collisions between adjacent pans and while permitting washing of each pan.
