摘要: A method for preserving a liquid-ejection head is disclosed. The method uses the liquid-ejection head having a first liquid-flowing passage that receives a supply of a first liquid and communicates with an ejection port; a second liquid-flowing passage that receives a supply of a second liquid that differs from the first liquid; a bubble generation area formed on the second liquid-flowing passage for heating the second liquid to generate a bubble in said second liquid; and a movable member positioned between the bubble generation area, having a free end on an ejection port's side of the first liquid-flowing passage and a supporting end on other side of the first liquid-flowing passage, where the free end of the movable member is displaced toward the first liquid-flowing passage by a pressure caused by a generation of the bubble when said second liquid is heated. The method includes a step of performing a replacement of one of the fist liquid and the second liquid with the other at least at a periphery of the ejection port or a periphery of the movable member. Thus the liquid-ejection head is able to perform an excellent recording whether it has not been used for a long time.

摘要: This invention provides, in a novel liquid discharge method utilizing a movable member, a configuration for detecting presence or absence of liquid in the liquid path or discharge state of the liquid. In an embodiment of this invention, the element substrate of the liquid discharge head is rendered electrically conductive and a partition wall for separating a liquid path for the liquid to be discharged and a liquid path for generating energy for liquid discharge upon heating is also rendered electrically conductive, and a detecting pulse is applied to the partition wall to detect the difference in potential or the variation in electrostatic capacitance between the element substrate and the partition wall, whereby the presence or absence of liquid in the small liquid path is detected. Also in another embodiment, the electrostatic capacitance between a fixed electrode provided in a fixed position of the liquid discharge head and a movable electrode provided on the movable member is detected, and the discharge state of the liquid is judged according to the function state of the movable member.

摘要: An apparatus uses a liquid ejection head including a first liquid passage communicating with an ejection port, a second liquid passage separated from the first liquid passage by a separation wall, and a movable member formed as a part of the separation wall. In the second liquid passage, a thermal energy generation device is arranged at a position opposing to the movable member. The movable member has a free end portion and a fulcrum. Recovery of the first and second liquid passages is performed by suction and/or pressurization. Upon recovery by discharging the liquid in respective liquid passage having higher flow resistance, the pressurizing force and/or the suction force for the liquid passage having higher resistance is set to be greater that the pressurizing force and/or the suction force for the other liquid passage having lower flow resistance.

摘要: A micromachine comprises at least one heat generating unit arranged on the surface of a substrate, a housing for retaining liquid having a liquid retaining portion along the heat generating unit, and a rotator rotatively supported in the liquid retaining portion of the housing for retaining liquid. This rotator is structured to rotate by way of the boiling of liquid in the liquid retaining portion by heat generated by the heat generating unit. The micromachine, such a micropump or a micromotor, is incorporated in a liquid jet recording head to cause recording liquid to flow compulsorily in order to remove accumulated bubbles in the liquid paths for maintaining good performance of the liquid jet recording head at all times.

摘要: An ink jet head for discharging ink comprises a plurality of elemental substrates having a plurality of discharge energy generating elements arranged in line for discharging ink, a grooved member having a plurality of walls joined with the plurality of elemental substrates arranged to constitute ink paths for each of the discharge energy generating elements, these ink paths being formed by joining the walls of the grooved member under pressure with the plurality of elemental substrates thus arranged, and among the plurality of walls, a plurality of ribs formed on the bottom of each wall arranged on each boundary between elemental substrates, and configured along this boundary line to abut upon each of different elemental substrates, respectively. In this way, any gaps and steps existing between the elemental substrates are sealed by the ribs formed for the walls of the grooved member when this member is joined with the elemental substrates under pressure, thus preventing any ink leakage from such gaps or steps, and also, suppressing the pressure wave cross talk between ink paths in order to perform recording in good condition.

摘要: A liquid discharge head comprises liquid flow paths communicated with liquid discharge port for discharging liquid, bubble generating energy means for creating bubbles in order to discharge the liquid from the liquid discharge port, and movable members facing bubble generating areas for the creation of the bubbles, having free ends on the discharge port side to guide the bubbles to the discharge port side. For this liquid discharge head, the movable members and members capable of presenting electrically conductive relations with the movable members are arranged to satisfy the structural relations of liquid contact surface which do not allow electrolytic corrosion to occur. In this way, almost no deterioration of the members may take place due to electrolytic corrosion caused by liquid to be used and the liquid supply source as well, hence implementing the enhancement of durability of the movable members and the performance of the stabilized discharges of liquid for a long time as well.
