Abstract: A communication method for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. The method includes identifying a length of information bits to be encoded; identifying a length of transmission bits; determining a size of a code for a polar encoding based on the length of the transmission bits, a maximum size of the code, and a minimum size of the code; identifying a codeword by the polar encoding of the information bits based on the determined size of the code; and obtaining the transmission bits based on the length of the transmission bits.

The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding a channel in a communication or broadcasting system, comprising the steps of: determining an input bit size (CBS); determining a code rate (R); determining a size (Z) of a block; comparing the determined CBS and code rate with predetermined reference values; determining an LDPC sequence to perform LDPC encoding according to the comparison result; and performing LDPC encoding and decoding on the basis of the LDPC sequence and the block size. Further, the present invention comprises the steps of: determining a code rate (R) indicated by a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) index; determining a transport block size; and determining either a first basic matrix or a second basic matrix as a basic matrix on the basis of the transport block size and the code rate.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a communication technique for converging a 5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate beyond a 4G system with an IoT technology, and a system therefor. The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart home, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, health care, digital educations, retail business, security and safety-related services, etc.) based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The disclosure provides an apparatus and a method for efficiently decoding a low-density parity-check (LDPC) code in a communication or broadcasting system. Further, the disclosure provides an LDPC decoding device and method for improving decoding performance without increasing the decoding complexity by applying suitable decoding scheduling according to the structural or algebraic characteristics of the LDPC code in a process of decoding the LDPC code using layered scheduling or a scheme similar thereto. Further, a method of a low density parity check (LDPC) decoding performed by a receiving device in a wireless communication system is provided, the method comprising: receiving, from a transmitting device, a signal corresponding to input bits; performing demodulation based on the signal to determine values corresponding to the input bits; identifying a number of the input bits based on the signal; identifying a base matrix and a lifting size based on the number of the input bits; identifying a parity check matrix based on the base matrix; identifying an index corresponding to the values; determining a number of layers based on the index and the lifting size; determining an order for LDPC decoding based on the number of layers and a predetermined sequence; and performing LDPC decoding to determine the input bits based on the values, the parity check matrix and the order.
