摘要： A surgical device having a longitudinal configuration and an axis extending between a proximal end and an opposing distal end includes a housing having an inner surface defining a chamber and a cannula extending distally of the housing. A valve disposed in the housing has a conical outer wall and a plurality of distal walls which form a first seal with the inner surface of the housing and a second seal. The walls include multiple fold segments which are foldable between a first position wherein the second seal closes the cannula and a second position wherein the second seal opens the cannula. A method for actuating the valve includes the step of inserting an instrument distally into the valve to contact the fold segments along a line and to move the fold segments to the second position.

摘要： A steerable kink resistant access device is provided having an elongated body and a steerable portion; methods for manufacturing the kink resistant device are also provided. The access sheath has an outside diameter sufficiently small so that it may be inserted into a body cavity or conduit. The access sheath typically has two internal lumen, a first lumen sized and configured as an access to a surgical site and a second lumen sized and configured to contain a tensioning device that, when acted upon, will deflect the steerable portion. The tensioning device may be directly or remotely attached to an actuation device that operates to control the tensioning and loosening of the tensioning device.

The valve has properties for creating a zero seal in the absence of an instrument as well as an instrument seal for an instrument. The valve can include a gel material and the access channel can include a protective shield to provide for wound protection during insertion and withdrawal of a sharp surgical instrument. The valve further comprises a cap ring which may be inserted or molded with the gel material.

A second ring (104), having an annular axis and a diameter greater than the desired diameter of the wound incision. A flexible sleeve (106), disposed in a generally cylindrical form between the first and second rings (102, 104), the second ring may be rolled over itself and around the annular axis to provide a sleeve with a radical retraction force sufficient to stretch the incision to the desired diameter.

摘要： A surgical access device includes a single valve that forms a seal with a body wall and provides an access channel into a body cavity. The valve has properties for creating a zero seal in the absence of an instrument as well as an instrument seal for an instrument having a diameter up to about 37 mm. The valve can include a gel material and the access channel can include a protective sleeve to provide for wound protection during insertion and withdrawal of a sharp surgical instrument. The valve further comprises a cap ring which may be inserted or molded with the gel material. The protective sleeve may be bonded or molded around an inner diameter of the cap ring The protective sleeve may be a single tubular member, or may comprise a plurality of axially extending sleeve members having a plurality of axial slits The protective sleeve and the cap ring may comprise of the same or different materials The surgical access device further comprises at least one support ring disposed circumferentially of the valve forming a hollow space, and a wound retractor operatively placed in the hollow space. The wound retractor includes an inner ring, an outer ring, and a flexible sleeve connecting the inner ring and the outer ring.

摘要： The invention described herein is a storage container adapted to hold a plurality of substantially planar flexible members, such as flexible magnetic discs. The container has a base section and a pouch section. The pouch section is adapted to be fitted into the base section in a closed position and the pouch section is adapted to rotate about an axis such that in an open position the pouch section rests against the base section. The pouch section further has a partial front wall which is adapted to pivot about an axis enlarging the pouch section greatly facilitating the insertion and removal of the flexible planar member. Finally, the storage container has detent means to provide positive closure in the closed position.
