摘要: An unloading system may be provided for use with ECMO and mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices. The system may include a first cannula with a distal cannula body coupled to a proximal hub, the distal body having an inner diameter, where the first cannula is configured to slidably receive the MCS device. The system may include a second cannula having an outer diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the first cannula. The system may include a connector for splitting a flow of blood from the ECMO device to the first and second cannula. The system may be configured so a first total pressure drop of the first cannula with the MCS device in place in the first cannula with the second cannula connected to the connector is equal to a second total pressure drop of the first cannula without the MCS device in place in the first cannula.

摘要: An improved catheter apparatus is disclosed for use with a hemostasis valve having a compression seal for temporarily creating a reduced inner diameter within a valve lumen of the valve. In at least one embodiment, the apparatus provides an elongate catheter having at least one protrusion radially extending outwardly from an outer surface of the catheter, the at least one protrusion having an outer diameter that is less than a neutral inner diameter of the valve lumen but greater than the reduced inner diameter of the valve lumen. During use of the apparatus, with the catheter positioned a distance within the valve lumen and the compression seal subsequently creating the reduced inner diameter within the valve lumen, the at least one protrusion contacts the compression seal and prevents the catheter from sliding out of the valve.

摘要: Disclosed herein are expandable introducer sheaths and methods of making and using the same. The sheaths minimize trauma to a patient's vasculature by allowing for temporary expansion of a portion of the sheath to accommodate passage of a delivery system for an implant, then return to a non-expanded state after the passage of the device. The sheath includes a foldable inner member having a detached flap structure at its distal tip that facilitates expansion of the sheath lumen to increased diameters, and an elastomeric distal end that reduces push and retrieval forces therethrough. The sheath can include a hemostasis seal on its proximal end to prevent the leakage of blood out of the sheath and prevent ballooning of outer layer of the sheath.

摘要: A minimally invasive surgery (MIS) cannula that is manufactured primarily from a plastic material such that it is disposable and that serves as both a camera bridge, to which a camera may be coupled, and an instrument or tool cannula or port, through which an instrument or tool may be used. The cannula optionally includes one or more ports to which an irrigating fluid line may be attached to enhance site visibility and access and a camera receptacle to which a camera can be affixed. When the camera is not used, a cap may be attached to the cannula using the camera receptacle and may include a valve or seal assembly or the like through which an instrument or tool may be used. The cap and valve or seal assembly or the like may also accommodate a camera and arthroscope attachment. Otherwise, the cap may simply seal the cannula.

摘要: A system for controlling a hemostasis valve includes a hemostasis valve having a body portion having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The hemostasis value further includes at least one valve positioned in the proximal end of the body portion and an engagement member operatively coupled to the at least one valve. The system further includes a first drive member coupled to the engagement member and a controller coupled to the first drive member. The controller is configured to control the first drive member to impart movement to the engagement member to open and close the at least one valve.

摘要: A surgical access assembly and method of use is disclosed. The surgical access assembly comprises an outer sheath and an obturator. The outer sheath and obturator are configured to be delivered to an area of interest within the brain. Either the outer sheath or the obturator may be configured to operate with a navigational system to track the location of either within the brain. Once positioned at a desired location, the obturator is removed, leaving a distal end of the outer sheath adjacent an area of interest, and creating a working corridor. Interrogation of the area of interest may be performed to evaluate a disorder and/or abnormality, as well as evaluate treatment regimes. Interventional devices may also be introduced to the area of interest, as well as a variety of treatments.
