    Abstract: A display device provided with an image capturing function is provided. A display device with both high viewing angle characteristics and high image capturing performance is provided. The display device includes a light-emitting and light-receiving element and a color filter. The light-emitting and light-receiving element includes a light-emitting and light-receiving region having a function of emitting light of the first color and a function of receiving light of the second color. The color filter is positioned over the light-emitting and light-receiving element and has a function of transmitting the light of the first color and a function of blocking the light of the second color. The color filter includes an opening portion. The light-emitting and light-receiving region includes a portion positioned in the inside of the opening portion in the plan view.

Image data which is out of focus is sharpened. An image processing method of image data in which a plurality of pixels are arranged is provided. Adjacent two pixels are each divided into a first region showing the same pixel value between the adjacent two pixels and a second region other than the first region, an initial value is supplied to the second region of an endmost pixel of the image data, and the pixel values of the first regions and the second regions of the plurality of arranged pixels are determined inductively and sequentially on the basis of the initial value.

The second light-emitting element has a function of emitting second light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The light-receiving element has functions of receiving the first light and converting the first light into an electric signal and functions of receiving the second light and converting the second light into an electric signal. The first light includes visible light, and the second light includes infrared light.

The display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a light-receiving element, a transistor, and a light-emitting element in a display portion. The light-receiving element, the transistor, and the light-emitting element are each positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate. The light-receiving element is positioned closer to the first substrate than the transistor is. The light-emitting element is positioned closer to the second substrate than the transistor is. The light-receiving element includes a layer containing an organic compound. The transistor is electrically connected to the light-emitting element. The display device preferably further includes a lens and light transmitted through the lens preferably enters the light-receiving element.

    Abstract: To provide a display device with excellent display quality, in a display device including a signal line, a scan line, a transistor, a pixel electrode, and a common electrode in a pixel, the common electrode is included in which an extending direction of a region overlapping with the signal line differs from an extending direction of a region overlapping with the pixel electrode in a planar shape and the extending directions intersect with each other between the signal line and the pixel electrode. Thus, a change in transmittance of the pixel can be suppressed; accordingly, flickers can be reduced.
