    摘要: A spark plug for spark ignition type internal combustion engines includes an earth electrode formed of a heat-resisting metal, a central electrode, and a supplementary electrode provided on the earth electrode or the tip end of the central electrode. The supplementary electrode cooperates with one of the other electrodes to define therebetween a spark gap which is smaller in dimension than the normal spark gap defined between the earth and central electrodes. The supplementary electrode has a higher specific resistance than that of the earth electrode.

    摘要: A fuel evaporator comprises a metal member composed of a pipe portion and a flange portion, a heating element made of PTC ceramic, which is closely adhered to the metal member and an electric connector for electrically connecting the heating element and an electric power source. The metal member is supported by an insulating member which is interposed between an air-fuel passage and an intake manifold. The fuel film flow flowing downwards along the wall of the air-fuel passage is received by the flange portion of the metal member and is heated by the heat transmitted from the heating element. Consequently, unvaporized fuel is effectively evaporated.

    摘要: A fuel evaporator for an internal combustion engine comprises a casing composed of a heating plate member, a supporting member projecting from the outer periphery of the heating plate member underwards and a heat resistant and electric insulating covering member which covers the supporting member, a heating element can be fixed to the heating plate member within the casing and an electrically connecting means which connects the heating element and an electric power source. The fuel evaporator further comprises an elastic cushion member which is disposed in the under surface of the heating element and a spring means which supports and presses the heating element against the heating plate member of the casing through the cushion member. Due to the elasticity of the cushion member, the heating element is uniformly pressed by the spring means without being broken.

Energy which the actuator requires to move the valve member so as to close the high pressure port is larger than energy which the actuator requires to move the valve member so as to open the low pressure port.

    摘要: In a fuel infection valve, a valve chamber of a three ways valve is selectively communicated to drain and high pressure conduits and also communicated, via a main orifice, to a control chamber for controlling valve opening and closing operations of a nozzle needle. The control chamber may be communicated via the main orifice and the valve chamber to the drain conduit or the high pressure conduit, when a valve body is driven by a piezo actuator to open or close the drain conduit and close or open the high pressure conduit. The control chamber is always communicated via a sub orifice to the high pressure conduit without bypassing the three ways valve. Accordingly, hydraulic pressure in the control chamber is slowly decreased at a valve opening time and is rapidly increased at a valve closing time so that a lift characteristic of the nozzle needle is improved.

    摘要: A fuel vapor purging system includes a container in which a set of divided chambers are formed by partition walls. Absorbent is disposed in the divided chambers. The divided chambers are sequentially connected to form a zigzag passage. Fuel vapor can enter the container from a fuel tank via a vapor line connecting the fuel tank and the container. In the container, an end of the vapor line faces the divided chamber which occupies an end of the set of the divided chambers. In the container, the fuel vapor is absorbed by the absorbent. Air can escape from the container via an opening in the container. The fuel vapor can be separated from the absorbent. The separated fuel vapor can be drawn into a suitable drawing device such as an engine air induction device via a purge line connecting the container and the drawing device. Fresh air can flow into the container via an air inlet provided on the container. Among the divided chambers, at least the divided chamber which occupies the end of the set of the divided chambers has a cross-sectional area equal to or smaller than 40 cm.sup.2.
