The print head includes a stopper positioned to be impacted by a print lever returning from a print position to an at rest position before a plunger on the lever impacts the magnetic core. A spring mounted on the lever biases it towards the print position. Magnetic flux of a permanent magnet attracts the plunger to the non-print position. An electromagnetic coil is energized to cancel the magnetic attraction of the plunger to the core to drive the wire towards the print position.

An optical recording/reproducing system comprising an optical pickup for recording and/or reproducing of data with respect to an optical recording medium. A reflection factor and a signal amplitude are obtained from the optical recording medium to be driven by the the recording/reproducing system. A reference level for detection of dirt deposition on the optical pickup is obtained on the basis of the reflection factor and signal amplitude information. The reference level for the dirt deposition is compared with a reproduction signal level obtained from the optical recording medium. A determination as to whether dirt is deposited or not is made on the basis of the comparison results.

An arm is mounted for movement between a non-print position and a print position. A print wire is mounted on the arm. A first device selectively drives the arm towards the print position by bias or magnetic force. A second device returns the arm to the non-print position and maintains the arm at that position without causing the arm to impact any member of the print head when returning to the print position. The second device uses balanced magnetic attraction or repulsion and/or bias forces to hold the arm out of contact with other parts of the printer other than at its point of mounting when at the non-print position.

The improvement realized in this oxygen concentration detector is to remove a drawback in which the output of this sensor makes an error depending on the temperature of a gas of which the oxygen concentration is measured. This oxygen concentration detector is provided with a limiting electric current type oxygen concentration sensor, a means for applying a voltage to the sensor for the purpose to measure a limiting current flowing in the sensor, a means for measuring a current which flows in the sensor responsive to the application of a voltage to the sensor, a means for measuring the internal resistance of the sensor, and a means for regulating at least one of the foregoing three means including a limiting electric current type oxygen concentration sensor, a means for applying a voltage to the sensor and a means for measuring a current flowing in the sensor, flowing the amount of the internal resistance of the sensor detected by the foregoing means for measuring the internal resistance of the sensor.

An apparatus for detecting concentrations of a plurality of gas components has a single polarographic sensor capable of detecting an oxygen concentration and a composite concentration of oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas and steam. A first voltage is applied to the polarographic sensor which then measures only the oxygen concentration, or a second voltage is applied to the sensor which then measures only the composite concentration of oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas and steam. The first and second voltages are applied to the sensor in a time division manner. Upon application of first and second voltages in such a time division manner, corresponding currents flowing through the sensor are detected to obtain signals corresponding to the oxygen concentration and the composite concentration of oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas and steam. The signal corresponding to the oxygen concentration is subtracted by an operational amplifier from the signal corresponding to the composite concentration of oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas and steam, thereby obtaining a signal representing a composite concentration of carbon dioxide gas and steam.
