摘要： The present invention provides contact lens with integrated biosensor for the continuous, non-invasive monitoring of physiological glucose by employing biocompatible nanostructure-laden lens materials. These contact lenses can be worn by diabetics who can colorimetrically see changes in their contact lens color or other fluorescence-based properties, giving an indication of tear and blood glucose levels. This invention for the glucose biosensor based on the new disposal contact lens provides a safe, convenient and non-expensive glucose sensing device. The sensing device disclosed herein provides an efficient and noninvasive solution for monitoring blood glucose.

摘要： Metallic carbon nanotubes (“CNTs”) may be selectively eliminated and semiconducting CNTs may be prepared using light-irradiation. The light provided by the light-irradiation may have a wavelength of about 180 nm to about 11 μm. Further, the light may have an intensity of about 30 mW/cm2 to about 300 mW/cm2. The light-irradiation may be simple and controllable, and may not require any special instruments except a light source.

摘要： The invention is drawn to novel gold nanoparticles that are used in a dual optical method for sensitive and selective detection of antigens. The gold nanoparticle aggregates are synthesized from gold hydrochloride and sulfur salts in an aqueous solution. The aggregates can be selectively sized using a spectral notch filter that results in an improved product with versatile uses. The gold nanoparticles can also be used in improved optical communications devices.
