System and method for communication are disclosed and may include, in a single chip that includes one or more on-chip devices, where the one or more on-chip devices are enabled to receive wireless signals and transmit wireless signals, receiving at a first of the one or more on-chip devices, a wireless signal that queries power information for the first of the one or more on-chip devices. The power information for the first of the one or more on-chip devices may be acquired and communicated to an off-chip device. The acquired power information may be wirelessly communicated to the off-chip device via an antenna and/or an infrared transmitter on the single chip. The acquired power information may also be communicated to an off-chip device via a wired connection on the single chip and/or via a general purpose input/output (GPIO) connection on the single chip.

Secure communication of information in a communication network may comprise acquiring a security code from a second communication device by a first communication device and receiving media containing the security code such as a pin code from the first communication device. The security code may be translated into an IP address corresponding to the second communication device. The received media may be routed to the second communication device based on the IP address of the second communication device. In this regard, the IP address of the second communication device remains anonymous or unknown to the first communication device. A duration for which the security code is valid may be limited to a specific time period and/or for a particular number of uses. Notwithstanding, the security code may be acquired out-of-band.

An iterative multistage detection system and method for orthogonally multiplexing K channels onto a signal processing chain using N orthogonal sequences of length N. The K channels include a first set of N channels and a second set of M channels (the M channels being separate and distinct from the N channels), where K=N+M. In a first iteration, interference from the first set of N channels imparted on the second set of M channels is removed from the multiplexed signal, thereby enabling the symbol values associated with the second set of M channels to be reliably estimated. In a second iteration, interference from the second set of M channels imparted on the first set of N channels is removed from the first set of N-channels, thereby enabling the symbol values associated with the first set of N channels to be reliably estimated.

A system and method for interleaving data in a wireless transmitter are disclosed, where bits from the input data stream are sent to downstream processing without being stored in memory. According to a first example embodiment, a first radio frame of data from an input code block is sent downstream, and the remaining radio frames from the code block are stored in the memory buffer. The first interleaving pattern can be applied, for example, as data is written to or read from the buffer. The stored radio frames are then read out as needed by the downstream processing. According to a second example embodiment, further savings in memory can be achieved by discarding bits that are not currently needed for processing then recalculating them at a later time. A first radio frame of data from an input code block is sent downstream without being stored in the memory buffer.

Herein described is a system and method that tracks the face of a person engaged in a videophone conversation. In addition to performing facial tracking, the invention provides stabilization of facial images that are transmitted during the videophone conversation. The face is tracked by employing one or more algorithms that correlate videophone captured facial images against a stored facial image. The face may be better identified by way of employing one or more voice recognition algorithms. The one or more voice recognition algorithms may correlate utterances of the person engaged in a conversation to one or more stored utterances. The identified utterances are subsequently mapped to a stored facial image. In a representative embodiment, the system used for performing facial tracking and image stabilization comprises an image sensor, a lens, an actuator, and a controller/processor.

A mobile phone that uses OS virtualization for minimizing power consumption in mobile phones is provided. A mobile phone according to the invention may include a plurality of application stacks and a plurality of processor cores. Each of the application stacks preferably corresponds to one of the plurality of processor cores. The mobile phone also includes a hypervisor. In a first state, the hypervisor allocates tasks from each of the application stacks to the processor core that corresponds to the respective application stack. In a second state, the hypervisor allocates selected tasks from the plurality of application stacks to a single processor core. The second state may be an idle state and the tasks that are allocated to the single processor core may be periodic tasks.

Programmable gain attenuators and programmable gain amplifiers commonly switch between signal levels using semi-conductor switches. Such switches may introduce non-linearities in the signal. Methods and systems for processing data are disclosed and may comprise receiving packetized data comprising voice data and network data via an Ethernet switch integrated within a single gigabit Ethernet IP phone chip. The received packetized data may be processed via a single main processor core integrated within the single gigabit Ethernet IP phone chip. The single main processor core may comprise circuitry that is controlled by an instruction set for handling processing of the voice data for a plurality of voice channels without the use of a separate DSP. It may be determined whether data to be processed by the single main processor core is voice data or network data. If the data to be processed by the single main processor core is voice data, at least one modified instruction may be selected from the modified instruction set for processing the voice data.

A single side band transmitter having reduced DC offset includes a current source modulation module, a current mirror module, a 1st mixing module, a 2nd mixing module, a summing module, and a power amplifier. The current source module is operably coupled to modulate, in accordance with a modulation protocol (e.g., FSK) data to produce an in-phase current component and a quadrature current component. The current mirror module is operably coupled to mirror the in-phase current component to produce a mirrored in-phase current component and is also operably coupled to mirror the quadrature current component to produce a mirrored quadrature current component. The 1st mixing module is operably coupled to mix the mirrored in-phase current component with an in-phase current component of a local oscillation to produce a 1st mixed current signal. The 2nd mixing module is operably coupled to mix the mirrored quadrature current component with a quadrature component of the local oscillation to produce a 2nd mixed current signal. The summing module is operably coupled to sum the 1st and 2nd mixed current signals to produce an up converted signal. The power amplifier amplifies the up converted signal prior to transmission as a radio frequency signal.
