Abstract:
An airless spray tip comprises a body, a barrel and a needle. The body has an axial fluid passage, and a tip bore extending transversely through the axial fluid passage. The barrel extends into the tip bore and includes a tip passage fluidly connected to the axial fluid passage. The needle is disposed in the axial fluid passage to engage the tip passage. An airless spray tip comprises a barrel, a fluid passage, a spray orifice and a tip seat. The barrel extends in an axial direction. The fluid passage extends through the barrel transverse to the axial direction. The spray orifice is disposed in the fluid passage. The tip seat is disposed in the fluid passage.
Abstract:
A multi-container manual-pump-operated backpack sprayer including an open-topped backpack enclosure, a plurality (preferably three) modular liquid containers removably seated in the enclosure, a hand-lever-operated pump/accumulator combination, and a user-controllable manifold for selecting a particular chemical from the containers for administration through a spray wand. Chemical is carried to the pressure chamber by manually pumping. The pump draws liquid from a manifold-selected supply container outward through tubes to the manifold, which has a console of valves. Separate return tubes are provided for each chemical from the manifold back to the containers of origin, and the manifold allows convenient flushing of each chemical back to its container of origin. This ensures that chemicals are not mixed or cross-contaminated and avoids waste since all residual is returned back to its respective container. The manifold is conveniently carried at the hip for ease of access.
Abstract:
A backpack sprayer having a tank with a filling opening at the top thereof and a pressure chamber therein is provided with filtering apparatus for preventing particles in the fluid in the tank from entering an inlet port of the pressure chamber located near the bottom of the tank when suction generated by a pump that depends from the bottom of the pressure chamber causes fluid in the tank to flow through the inlet port into the pressure chamber. The fluid pressurized by the pump flows through an outlet port from the pressure chamber for spraying when a valve in the nozzle at the end of a hose communicating with the outlet port is actuated by an operator. The filtering apparatus is provided by a filter in a frame removably captured in a fixture projecting outwardly from the outside of the pressure chamber on opposite sides of the inlet port. A handle extends from the frame upwardly along the outside of the pressure chamber a sufficient distance to be accessed manually when the hand of the operator extends through the filling opening of the tank. The filter prevents particles, such as sediment, in the liquid at the bottom of the tank from flowing into the pressure chamber and pump mechanism thereof thereby preventing clogging of the pump mechanism and interfering with operation of the sprayer. The filter may be manually removed from the fixture for cleaning and then replaced. The need to totally disassemble the sprayer for cleaning is thereby substantially eliminated.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an apparatus for directing at least one of steam, hot water and hot water vapor along with hot air onto vegetation, the apparatus comprising a source of water and a source of fuel connected and supplying water and fuel to steam generator having a boiler heated by a burner, the apparatus including a valve arrangement between the source of water and fuel and the steam generator, the valve arrangement having a STAND-BY mode and an ON mode, the STAND-BY mode of the valve arrangement providing for a reduced flow of water and fuel to the steam generator to maintain a pilot flame in the burner and sufficient water flow to reduce the response time of the apparatus to generate at least one of steam, hot water and hot water vapor along with hot air as needed when the valve arrangement is placed in the ON mode.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an apparatus for directing steam, hot water or hot water vapor and hot air onto a target area, the apparatus comprising a water container and a fuel container connected and supplying water and fuel to an applicator wand with an applicator head which generates steam and heat for application adjacent to the target area of application to the unwanted vegetation. Steam is generated immediately adjacent to the target area within the applicator head and combined with surplus heat from the steam generation process to produce heated steam and water vapor for application to the target area. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the applicator wand is hand held, the applicator head having an inlet, an outlet and a body therebetween, the water and fuel being supplied to a steam generator and burner within the body of the applicator head which generates steam and hot air adjacent to the target area for application through the outlet to the target area.

Abstract:
A portable misting device is charged with gas from a pressurized source. Fluid is discharged from the device through a nozzle coupled to a flexible tube. The fluid stream emitted from the nozzle may be modified by a fan to create a fine spray mist.
Abstract:
A regulating valve is disclosed for controlling the flow of fluid from a variable pressure fluid supply. The valve includes a diaphragm which is resiliently biased into a normally closed position, and which shifts to an open position when exposed to a fluid pressure above a predetermined minimum level.
Abstract:
A garden sprayer for dispensing pressurized liquids has a pressure vessel mounted within a liquid reservoir container. The pressure vessel carries a diaphragm pump which is detachable as a complete unit and which extends from the container for connection to a pivoted actuating lever that is fulcrumed on the container. The diaphragm, which is directly driven by the pivoted lever, is guided in position and orientation by a guide piston fixed to the diaphragm and slidably guided within the pumping chamber. A pair of input and output check valves, mounted at the end of the pump, permit liquid from the container to be drawn into the pumping chamber and to be forced from the pumping chamber into the pressure vessel. A manually controlled valve on a spray nozzle, which is connected to the pressure vessel, controls pressurized discharge of liquid.
