摘要: A method and apparatus for repairing and/or reinforcing a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) jet pump riser pipe. The repair includes attaching two collars to the riser pipe using match drilling to drill holes through the collars and the riser pipe and plugging the holes with expandable plugs. Support columns are attached to the collars. Brace supports are slideably attached to the support columns. Gaps between each brace support and its respective collar are then narrowed as ratchet bolts may apply a force that pulls downward on an upper collar and pulls upward on a lower collar, thereby exerting a compression force on the riser pipe. A clamp assembly may also be located between the two collars that applies a hoop force on the riser pipe.

摘要: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for directing steam, hot water or hot water vapor and hot air onto a target area, the apparatus comprising a water container and a fuel container connected and supplying water and fuel to an applicator wand with an applicator head which generates steam and heat for application adjacent to the target area of application to the unwanted vegetation. Steam is generated immediately adjacent to the target area within the applicator head and combined with surplus heat from the steam generation process to produce heated steam and water vapor for application to the target area. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the applicator wand is hand held, the applicator head having an inlet, an outlet and a body therebetween, the water and fuel being supplied to a steam generator and burner within the body of the applicator head which generates steam and hot air adjacent to the target area for application through the outlet to the target area.

摘要: A steam-generating system has a construction which omits the vaporizer from a waste-heat boiler of a waste-heat recovery Rankine cycle while retaining the superheater. In this system, a superheated steam emanating from the outlet of the superheater is divided into steam for the superheater system and steam for the steam turbine system. The turbine steam is adiabatically expanded, then condensed and liquefied into water in the condenser, and subsequently converted into high-pressure hot water. This high-pressure hot water is injected into the circulation steam and consequently cooled to produce saturated steam. The saturated steam is returned to the inlet of the superheater and utilized therein to exchange heat with waste gas. The steam-generating system therefore, functions as a non-boiling system wherein the superheated steam generated in a mass flow equal to the mass flow of water injected into the circulation steam moves at a constant flow volume and is utilized as the working steam for the steam turbine system. Thus, the steam-generating system is enabled to generate steam of high temperature and pressure.

摘要: A steam generating apparatus which includes a novel gas burner and consisting of a pair of spaced coaxial cylinders, the outer of which is of considerably greater axial length than the inner and both of which are provided with apertures for admixing the gas with air. The inner cylinder functions as an integral pilot burner which is highly stable. The steam generating apparatus heats water to provide steam, heats it still further, then condenses the steam into liquid to assist in the formation of still more steam.

摘要: An expander of the piston (2) and cylinder (3) type is inverted from normal orientation, with the crankshaft (4) upper most and the cylinder “head” (5) lower most. The cylinder head has a pair of liquid injectors (6, 7) oriented for respective liquids pentane and glycerine to be injected as mists into contact with each other at the bottom of the cylinder. The pentane is vaporised by transfer of latent heat to it from the glycerine. Respective injector valves (9, 10) from high pressure rails (11, 12) fed by pumps (14, 15) are provided. An exhaust valve (16) is opened by a cam (17) driven at crankshaft speed by a chain drive.

摘要: Waste heat is extracted in two stages from the exhaust (20) of a biomass dryer (14) in a grain alcohol plant (10). A boiler circuit (56) provides a first steam at high pressure. A first energy recovery circuit (36) extracts heat from the exhaust via a non-contact heat exchanger (24) and provides a second, relatively lower pressure steam (78), thereby bypassing a portion of the boiler circuit. Working fluids in the boiler and first energy recovery circuits are maintained within boiler water quality specifications and are intermixed to allow the production of the second steam without a pressure reduction device. A second energy recovery circuit (44) extracts heat from the exhaust downstream of the first energy recovery circuit using a direct contact heat exchanger (38) and provides a non-boiler quality heated fluid (52), which may be a heated liquid or a third steam.
