摘要： A method and apparatus for measuring a dimension of an object which utilizes a reflective photosensor and a facing reflective surface, wherein the spacing between the sensor and the reflective surface is varied depending on the dimension to be measured. The preferred application of the invention is in a sheet feeder for a printer wherein the invention provides an electrical signal indicative of the size of sheets in the sheet feeder. The electrical signal may be used to control a printing function. The sheet feeder (10) includes a base (14) having a paper guide (18) slideably mounted thereon. The guide (18) carries a tapered arm (26) which includes a reflective surface (28). A reflective photosensor (30) is fixedly mounted on the base opposite the reflective surface (28) such that the variable distance between the sensor (30) and the surface (28) as the paper guide (18) is adjusted gives a correspondingly variable electrical output from the sensor. When the sensor (30) is adjusted against the edge of a stack of sheets, the sensor's output represents a dimension of those sheets.

摘要： A vacuum processing apparatus in which LCD substrates are processed includes three process chambers. Each of the process chambers is connected to a first load lock chamber through a gate valve. A second load lock chamber is also connected to the first load lock chamber through a gate valve. The second load lock chamber is opposed to a carrier member, which is arranged in the atmosphere, through a gate valve. A carrier arm is arranged in the first load lock chamber to carry the substrates between each of the process chambers and the second load lock chamber. A buffer rack for supporting two substrates thereon and positioners for aligning the two substrates, which are supported on the buffer rack, simultaneously are arranged in the second load lock chamber.

摘要： A dispenser for flexible sheets from a stack of adhesive coated sheets disposed one on top of another. The dispenser comprises a first housing portion including a bottom wall, end walls, side walls and a first top wall portion; and a second housing portion comprising a second top wall portion mounted on the first housing portion for movement between a normal position where the top wall portions define an outlet opening for the sheets between adjacent ends, and an open position with the second top wall portion spaced from the first wall portion to afford inserting a stack of sheets into the cavity. 摘要： To provide for temporary storage of freshly printed signatures (6), transported by a continuously moving product transport gripper chain (4, 5), a plurality of pocket structures (12), each of which includes a plurality of connected sheet-like elements (16,17) which, between each other, define pockets (15), are provided. The sheet-like elements are arranged for pivotable movement about an end portion to permit fan-like spreading out of the elements for reception in the pockets of, for example, one product or signature delivered by the transport system. Storage units are provided to store empty pocket structures and to receive pocket structures which are filled with signatures. The storage structures, preferably, are formed of separate sheet-like elements connected together, and engaging the signatures at marginal portions, so that access can be provided to the signature, for example from below, for compressed air or other drying gas, to dry the fresh ink on the signatures, for example when placed within the storage units (26). To space the sheet-like elements, preferably, a small projection or tab is placed on them at facing surfaces, in the region of the margins of the signatures, that is, in non-printed areas thereof.

摘要： A thermal imprint recording apparatus for recording an image on a paper by a thermal head uses a cartridge of recording paper on which a roll of ink film for supplying the ink film and another roll on which the ink film is taken up are carried. The apparatus comprises an arm adapted to engage with one of the rolls when the cartridge is loaded on the apparatus. Responsive to the loading, the arm is swung upwards and the roll is lifted from the cartriddge. The roll is then carried over a platen roller of the printer and the ink film is drawn out so as to engage with the upper surface of the platen roller. Further, the paper is taken out from the bottom of the cartridge and is transported along a path passing below the platen roller to a predetermined printing station located between the platen roller and the ink film. As a result, the path for feeding the paper on the platen roller becomes short and the circuitous path for supplying the paper to the platen roller around the rolls of ink film and a thermal head is eliminated and thus the apparatus can be constructed compactly.
