摘要: The present invention relates to the atomization of high-solid content fluids. More particularly, the present invention relates to a system [10] and method for the uniform spray application of roofing materials and, in particular, to the uniform spray application of emulsified asphalts and emulsified asphalt matrices with embedded fiberglass strands. In a preferred embodiment, an engine or equivalent power source [20] is provided. An oil pump [40] is mechanically connected to the engine [20]. A hydraulic motor [80] is hydraulically connected to the oil pump [40]. A reciprocating pump [100] is mechanically connected to the hydraulic motor [80]. The reciprocating pump [100] is connected to a one-way valve [120] which is connected in series with a pulsation dampener [130]. The pulsation dampener [130] dampens the pressured spikes of the slurry exiting the reciprocating pump [100].

摘要: A method of selecting a binder for a chipsealing process is provided. This method includes measuring the Adhesion Index of at least one binder and selecting a binder with a desirable Adhesion Index for the chipsealing process. The selected binder should have an Adhesion Index no greater than about 3.75 when calculated according to the most preferred method of the present invention. Preferably, the selected binder is applied to a surface and then aggregate is applied within the time parameters defined by the Adhesion Index of the binder to form a chipsealed surface. Preferably, substantially all of the aggregate bonds to the binder without the need for compacting the paved surface.

摘要: A device for simultaneously spreading cut fibers and binders on a roadway width, includes, in the longitudinal direction, a first binder spreading set, a second cut fiber spreading set and a third binder spreading set, the second set including cutting tools, which are driven by a torque transmission member. The device is modular, the modules being transversally arranged side by side and each allowing to spread on a longitudinal lane of the roadway binders and cut fibers. Each module has a first nozzle, a tool for pulling and cutting continuous fibers and throwing cut fibers to the roadway, a second nozzle, the nozzles being connected to a common binder dispensing member. Each tool is removably mounted in its module between a working position where it is in the module and driven by the driving shaft and a releasing position where it is available to an operator and at rest.

摘要: A system and apparatus for detecting and evaluating surface conditions on a road surface and atmospheric conditions simultaneously from a vehicle is disclosed. The system comprises a sensor for detecting the presence of deposited material on a road surface, a detector for determining one or more characteristics of the deposited material such as freezing temperature, process means for converting a detected signal and display means for displaying the condition of the road surface, and a sensor for detecting falling precipitation. An embodiment of the present invention includes a remote sensing apparatus which utilizes electromagnetic radiation to sense actual surface material conditions, temperatures, and composition and local atmospheric conditions at the vehicle as it is moving over a travel surface. This information is then processed through a computer in order to determine those additional steps necessary to apply additional materials to the road surface in order to minimize hazardous driving conditions.

摘要: A granular and liquid material spreading system mounted on a vehicle. Granular material is moved from a hopper to a delivery means using hydraulic pumps and motors. The hydraulic system also drives a liquid delivery system. A control system is provided to control the amount of granular material and liquid material applied to a surface. The feed rate of liquid delivery is dependent upon the feed rate of the granular material. The liquid feed rate may be changed within a predetermined range. The level of liquid may be sensed to disengage the liquid delivery system. Initiation of liquid delivery reduces the feed rate of granular material by a variably selected percentage.

摘要: A granular and liquid material spreading system mounted on a vehicle is disclosed. Granular material is moved from a hopper to delivery means by a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system for a granular material delivery system is selectively used by a liquid delivery system to operate a liquid pump to move the liquid material to the delivery position. The amount of liquid delivered is dependent upon the feed rate of the granular material delivery system. Variation of the liquid feed rate may be changed within a predetermined range. The level of liquid may be sensed to disengage the liquid delivery system. In one embodiment, the hydraulic system fluid is diverted to power the liquid delivery system, slowing the feed rate of the granular delivery system and the amount of granular material used. In another embodiment the hydraulic system is used to control the liquid feed rate.
