    Abstract: An appliance hinge having internal stop mechanisms. The hinge has a first member which provides a thin bearing surface on both sides of a formed cylindrical segment on the back lip of the door. The second hinge member is a molded block which mounts on the floor of the door recess on the appliance cabinet top, and has a cylindrical shaped guide slot for receiving the first member in sliding engagement. The first and second hinge members are snapped together to prevent disengagement during assembly. When the door is rotated about the hinge axis, the bearing surfaces of the cylindrical segment slilde along the guide slot until the door contacts the back lip of the slot and the edge of the cylindrical segment contacts the terminating surface of the guide slot. Cooperatively, these two stop mechanisms distribute the strain of a relatively strong opening force.

    Abstract: A sun visor assembly has a rotatable friction mount including an elongated shaft receiving thereon an inner tubular friction member, two tubular spacers and a helical compression spring, all telescopically received within an outer tubular member and trapped between longitudinally-spaced apart retainer washers. Notches adjacent to the ends of the tubular friction member define hinged end portions which are tiltable under the urging of the compression spring radially outwardly into frictional engagement with the outer tubular member. A similar hinged tiltable end portion may be formed on one of the spacer members. Plural pairs of notches may be formed in the inner frictional member to define plural sets of hinged tiltable portions. In one embodiment the outer surface of the inner fricitonal member has longitudinal ribs disposed for ratcheting engagement with spring clips which project inwardly through apertures in the outer tubular member. A visor panel is secured to the outer tubular member and may be provided with a vacuum-formed recess for receiving an associated mirror, covered by a hingedly mounted cover on the visor panel.

    Abstract: A ratchet bearing is provided for mounting the slats in a shutter frame which incorporates directly into the bearing, by virtue of a trunion pin having a ribbed surface which rotates within a bearing collar having inwardly directed detents, a multiple detention action such that when the slat is rotationally opened or closed, the bearing will seat in one of a multiplicity of detent positions so that the shutter will not sag shut or otherwise move after it has been set.

    Abstract: An annular outer frame mounts the assembly in a vehicle. A pair of pivots rotatably support an inner frame (which mounts a window) for rotation about an offset axis between open and closed positions. The pivots can support a frameless window. One of the pivots has a spring-like arm actuated by manually twisting a handle. The arm grips a pivot stud which locks the inner frame or window in a desired position or by proper setting, the gripping pressure exerted by the arm on the stud can provide for a clutch action.

    Abstract: An infinite position door hold open includes a pair of pivotally interconnected hinge members which are respectively mounted on the door and body. The door mounted hinge member pivotally supports an arcuate link having oppositely facing braking and frictional surfaces, both generated about the pivotal axis of the hinge members. The braking surface is frictionally engageable with a brake pad adjustably mounted on the body mounted hinge member. The engagement of the braking surface with the brake pad is controlled by pivotal movement of a wedging cam relative to the door mounted hinge member between non-wedging limit positions through an intermediate wedging position. The cam has a friction member in constant engagement with the frictional surface of the brake member. Any reversal of the direction of movement of the door relative to the body causes the friction member of the cam to move the cam to the intermediate wedging position and wedge the braking surface of the brake member into frictional engagement with the brake pad.
