摘要: A system is provided for forming an ice coating on the outer surface of blown glass tube-shaped glass pieces (30) of an art work. The blown glass tubes are attached to a support surface (36) such that opposing ends of each glass tube are positioned over apertures in the surface. Liquid coolant contained in a thermally insulated tank (10) is cooled by a compressor (12) and then forced through an inlet manifold subassembly (20, 24) into the glass tubes, and then returned through a return manifold subassembly (40,44) to the tank for re-circulation. The continuous flow of liquid coolant results in the formation of an ice coating on the outer surface of the blown glass tubes.

摘要: The instant invention is directed to an apparatus for frosting drinking glasses. The apparatus is a self contained flash freezer designed for placement on a countertop wherein a miniaturized refrigeration system is mounted directly above a flash freezing chamber. Drinking glasses are placed upon a sloped roller bed used for transferring of the drinking glasses which are subjected to temperatures of about -30 degrees Fahrenheit causing frosting of the drinking glasses in less than one minute. The frosted glasses can be removed from a second opening of the chamber disposed at the lower end of the sloping roller bed. During normal operation, the apparatus is sized to handle a number of glasses and the sloped roller bed permits insertion of untreated drinking glasses which in turn forces the exit of frosted drinking glasses. For optimum frosting the apparatus accepts wet drinking glasses as the roller bed permits excess water to fall on a defrosting pan designed to vaporize excess moisture within the chamber for controlling the amount of frosting applied to the drinking glasses.

摘要: Apparatus for icing, freezing or frosting containers such as drinking glasses comprising a tank containing liquefied gas under pressure which is supplied through a valve and a coiled capillary conduit to a nozzle which sprays the liquefied gas into the interior of the drinking glass. A displaceable receiver plate is adapted for placement of the glass thereon and, in response to pressure applied to the glass, the receiver plate is displaced to open the valve which releases the liquefied gas from the tank into the coiled capillary conduit and, then, from the nozzle into the interior of the glass. The coil configuration of the capillary conduit provides resilience thereof and allows the same to undergo deformation as the receiver plate is displaced. The capillary conduit also serves to convey the liquefied gas along an elongated path to provide heat exchange with the ambient atmosphere, pressure reduction of the liquefied gas and a time lag so that, at discharge from the nozzle the liquefied gas is in an ideal liquid-gaseous state.
