    摘要: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a unitary cabin body having a utility compartment and a laterally adjacent personal compartment, the utility compartment forming a water reservoir in controlled, gravity-fed fluid communication with a climate control compartment, and a laterally directed outlet providing fluid communication from the climate control compartment to the personal compartment. In an illustrative example, the climate control compartment may be integrally formed to provide an evaporative cooling compartment and a plenum compartment. A float valve may regulate fluid communication from the water reservoir to the evaporative cooling compartment, for example. In various embodiments, a unitary roof body may engage the unitary cabin body in a stowed mode for transport, for example, and be raised above the unitary body in a deployed mode for occupancy.

    摘要: An evaporative cooler circulation and drain system including a fluid pump and a storage tank defining an interior volume for holding a fluid is disclosed. In one aspect, the system is operable between a circulation and drain-circulation operational modes. In the circulation mode, a drain valve is closed and the fluid pump is activated such that fluid is continuously circulated within the storage tank to discourage debris from settling by keeping debris in the tank in suspension. In the drain-circulation mode, the drain valve is opened and the fluid pump is activated such that fluid is both being continuously circulated within the interior volume of the storage tank and draining from the tank. In some embodiments, the system increases the drain flow rate by directing circulated fluid directly at a drain opening of the tank to flush debris through the drain piping and prevent plugging.

    摘要: An evaporative media system having multiple media stages each served by a separate pump is disclosed. In one aspect, the evaporative media system has a first media stage and a second media stage. A first pump is provided that is configured to deliver water from the first compartment of the water storage tank to the first media stage. Additionally, a second pump is provided that is configured to deliver water from the first compartment of the water storage tank to the second media stage. Additional media stages and pumps may be provided as well. The disclosed configuration eliminates the need for individual staging valves, provides a higher level of operational redundancy, reduces electrical consumption, and can be provided at a lower cost, as compared to many existing systems.

    摘要: An evaporative cooling device (40) is disclosed for cooling water or other liquids comprising a vessel (50) adapted to receive water or another liquid, said vessel comprising a vessel wall (53, 54, 55), an outer layer (90) of absorbent material and a wick (85) extending through said vessel wall, such that said wick is positioned to contact said water or other liquid within the vessel and is adapted to transport a portion of said water or other liquid through the wall by capillary action to said absorbent material, said wick being substantially impermeable to gas or vapor, so that the cooling device (40) can be connected in-line in an hydration system of the kind comprising a reservoir (12) and a drinking tube (32). Water or other liquid transported from within the vessel to the outer layer by said wick is absorbed by the absorbent material, from which it evaporates, the latent heat required for such evaporation being removed from the water or other liquid disposed within the vessel as sensible heat through the vessel wall, thereby cooling such water or other liquid. In some embodiments, the cooling device (40) may be fan-assisted. Also disclosed is a cooling garment comprising a garment portion that is adapted to be worn by a user and an evaporative cooling device (40) for cooling water or other liquids that are circulated through integrant channels or tubes provided in the garment.
