    摘要: A scheduler schedules multimedia content files for transmission over a broadcast network. Multimedia content files can be any sort of audio/video clips like, sports video, music video, news clip, movie sound track etc. In particular, the scheduler determines a transmission order for content files and generates an electronic service guide having a static part and a dynamic part such that content scheduled in the dynamic part may have a different transmission order in different versions of the electronic service guide. Schedule timing information and meta data information is transmitted over a broadcast network along with the clips so that receivers can do selective reception of their preferred clips, saving battery power and storage.

    摘要: In sequence data composed of a plurality of event sets with their execution sequence predefined, each of the event sets includes event data indicative of an event to be executed and trigger data defining timing for executing the event. Once a user manually instructs progression instructing operation while the individual events are being executed in accordance with the timing defined by the corresponding trigger data, the next event is executed immediately even before arrival of the next event execution timing. According to another aspect, the trigger data include trigger data of a first type that defines the event execution timing the event by use of an absolute time and trigger data of a second type that defines the event execution timing by use of a relative time between the events, and the sequence data may mixedly include the trigger data of the first and second types. Any one of the two time information can be used appropriately in accordance with characteristics of the individual events. For example, for one event having close relevancy to another event to be executed earlier than the one event, the relative time information is used.

Ideally, there will be one or more channels that are tailored to a given community of users' viewing wishes, so that a user in that community may simply access a community channel and receive content that they are interested in without having to actively select the content they receive.

    摘要: Data streams are selected according to user preferences and transmitted to the user. Such data streams may be audio, video, or other works, such as popular music or the like, or other works, including music videos. Users may indicate their general or specific preferences with reaard to song, artists, or albums. Other users, particularly ones who access the system often, can act as influencers or controllers of the music transmitted to the user. Any other aspects or factors that might affect the user's preferences can be taken into account, such as popular radio stations in the United States or anywhere in the world. A playlist can be created that combines all of these factors, as well as any applicable statutory regulations. The playlist serves as a basis for feeding the data streams to the user, and the user can enjoy music generally of their choosing, while additionally being exposed to new music (if the user so prefers). An Internet radio is established. Each user can express their own preferences and receive music corresponding to those preferences on an on-going basis. Every individual can be the manager of their own radio station that broadcasts music that parallels the user's tastes. Other users may also choose to hear the same playlist as another individual, or allow that individual to influence their playlist.
