    摘要: Apparatus for processing an end face of an optical fiber connector includes a rotatable index shaft mounted on a frame. A plurality of rotatable chucks are mounted on the index shaft so as to hold optical fiber connectors, respectively. In accordance with the rotation of the index shaft, the chucks can be moved sequentially from one index position to another so as to grind and finish the optical fiber connector. A rotatable drive gear is disposed coaxially with the index shaft. A driven gear is fixedly mounted on each chuck. A pair of first and second intermediate gears are connected to the drive and driven gears, respectively. A clutch is interposed between the pair of intermediate gears and normally connecting them together to transmit the rotation of the drive gear to the driven gear to rotate each chuck. A clutch disengagement device is provided for disengaging the clutch to disconnect the two intermediate gears when each chuck is indexed to a position where the optical fiber connector is attached to and detached from the chuck.

    摘要: Improved rail grinding apparatus for correcting flatness errors in the slew bearings of large earthmoving machines is disclosed. The grinding apparatus includes a grinding wheel (22) rotated by a motor (24) and forced against a rail (13) by lead screws (28). The latter are controlled by means of displacement sensors (31) and associated control means (33 and 34) so as to grind a profile along the rail (13). The displacement sensors follow guide rails (29) which conform to the desired profile to be ground along the rail (13). The control means (33) may be interfaced with suitable computing means to modify the displacement of the lead screws (28) relative to the guide means (29).

    摘要: A walking beam conveyor (54) delivers drill bits (B), one at a time, into a feed position. A pushrod (52) moves a drill bit (B) from the feed position into the nosepiece (36) of a robot arm (28). The drill bit (B) enters the nosepiece (36) shank end first. The shank (84) enters into and is gripped by a collet (38) in the nosepiece (36). A stylus (66) is then lowered down onto the point end portion of the drill bit (B) and the drill bit (B) is rotated about its axis until the stylus (66) drops down to the bottom of the drill bit flute (70). Rotation is immediately stopped and the robot arm (28) is retracted and swung into a position of alignment with a drill bit holder (18) of a sharpening machine. The robot arm (28) is then extended to place the drill bit (B) into a collet (C) in the holder (18). The collet (C) is operated to grasp the drill bit (B) and the collet (38) in the nosepiece (36) is operated to release the drill bit (B). The holder (18) then moves in position to in turn move the point of the drill bit (B) into contact with a surface of a rotating grinding wheel (14). The drill bit (B) was rotated while in the nosepiece (36) to in that manner orient the point surfaces of the drill bit for proper contact with the grinding wheel (14). Oversized and undersized drill bits (B), and drill bits (B) with excessive material buildup, are detected and rejected.

    摘要: An apparatus for slide grinding has a slide-grinding container which is movable upwardly from a slide-grinding position thereof around a horizontal tilt axis into an emptying position thereof above a screen which is adapted to be placed in vibration and is arranged in an upper region of a collection container which is tiltable into an emptying position above the slide-grinding container. A collection chamber of the collection container below the screen has a first chute which terminates above the slide-grinding container in the emptying position of the collection chamber. The chute defines an emptying opening for returning abrasive bodies which have fallen through the screen into the slide-grinding container. The slide-grinding container and the collection container are individually tiltable and the screen is developed as a screen chute which vibrates relative to the collection container.
