The marker has a cylindrical shape and includes a pair of clips for attaching to a line while allowing the marker to move along the line. The marker includes a lighting module having a plurality of LEDs for illuminating the marker at during low visibility conditions, e.g. at night. The lighting module also includes a solar collector for charging a power source during the day. Finally, the lighting module includes a light sensor and controller allowing the amount of light emitted from the marker to be controlled either automatically or manually.

摘要： A device which will act efficiently as a float for any article (e.g. keys, mobile telephone, wallet) attached thereto when dropped into water comprises an inflatable bag (14) of substantially waterproof and air impervious material, a container (12) of compressed gas, and trigger means (16,30,32) associated with the container (12) and operable upon immersion of the device in water to open the container (12) and allow gas from the container (14) to inflate the bag (14). The trigger means comprises a valve (16) mounted on the container (12) and connecting the container to the inflatable bag (14), retainer means (30) operative to hold the valve (16) in a closed condition, and water reactive means (32) which, upon contact with water, serves to release the retainer means (30) and allow the valve to open. The water reactive means may comprise a band of material (32), at least part of which is water reactive. The retainer means may comprise a spring (30) which acts directly on the valve (16) to keep it closed against spring bias and the water reactive band (32) may hold the spring (30) under compression until release. In other embodiments the retainer means may comprise a plate or a lever which the water reactive band holds against spring bias of the valve to its open position until release. In another embodiment the retainer means includes a spring held under compression by a water reactive band, which spring, upon release overcomes spring bias of the valve to its closed position. The bag (14), the container (12) and the trigger means are housed a casing (10) and means (37) are provided, preferably integrally on the container (12), for attachment of the device to another article.

The navigation lights device also comprises headgear or a helmet that is worn over a top portion of a person's head and includes red, green, and white navigation lights attached to a left side portion, right side portion, and back side portion, respectively, of the headgear. The headgear can include a battery pack attached to the headgear to provide electrical power to the navigation lights via wires that extend therebetween.

摘要： Optical elements for vessel navigation lights, providing improved and inexpensive means for achieving uniform, luminous intensity over a sharply bounded horizontal arc of visibility, and also for achieving a desired vertical arc of visibility, comprise means for projecting light from a diffuse source or an array or mosaic of point sources into a field the horizontal and vertical arcs of which can be precisely defined. The disclosure encompasses two geometric configurations for projecting light, symmetrical and asymmetrical, compound parabolic concentrators, each of which may be constructed as either a reflective cavity or a refractive dielectric, thereby to provide four basic designs for achieving uniform illumination over various horizontal arcs of visibility. In addition, the disclosure encompasses three modes of diffuse light projection to achieve uniform illumination over various vertical arcs of visibility. Due to the precision of the results obtained, the optical elements provide navigation lights fully in compliance with the rigid specifications for arcs of visibility set forth in the Final Act of the International Conference on Revision of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (72 COLREGS) and the International Rules of Navigation Act of 1977, 33 U.S.C. 1601, and do so with particular economy.
