Abstract:
A scanner and a scanning method having adjustable length of turn region are disclosed. The scanner comprises a first fixed element having an entry for a paper-in end; a U-turn element; and a second fixed element having an exit for a paper-out end. In addition, the scanner further comprises at least one first movable element located between the exit of the first fixed element and the entry of the U-turn element; and at least one second movable element located between the exit of the U-turn element and the entry of the second fixed element. Moreover, the scanning method comprises: firstly inputting the length of the document into the scanner; comparing the length of the document with the length of turn region; adjusting the length of turn region according to the comparison result; scanning the document.
Abstract:
A top registration transport mechanism and method for a mailing machine is provided. The transport mechanism includes one or more displaceable rollers that have a diameter larger than the drive/idler rollers. A semi-elastic belt is looped around the drive/idler rollers and displaceable rollers. The larger diameter of the displaceable rollers causes a portion of the transport belt in the area of the displaceable rollers to be slightly raised. The registration plate can contact the raised portion of the belt to displace the belt and displaceable rollers, thereby ensuring that very thin mail pieces can be effectively processed by the transport. As thicker mail pieces traverse the transport, the displaceable rollers can be further displaced before the entire transport mechanism must be displaced to maintain registration of the mail piece against the bottom of the registration plate.
Abstract:
A jam removing apparatus of a machine having an ADF function to effectively remove a sheet of paper jammed between an ADF roller and a feed roller includes a middle gear engaged with a gear train engaged with an ADF gear of the ADF roller and having a unit to transfer only one-way rotation, a feeding gear engaged with the middle gear and coaxially connected with the feed roller to transfer the paper, and a jam removing unit connected with a shaft of the feeding gear to rotate the feeding gear when removing the jammed paper. The jammed paper is transferred only in a paper supplying direction but not in an opposite direction of the paper supplying direction, thus the jammed paper can be prevented from being damaged by being crumpled by the ADF roller.
Abstract:
An automatic document feeder is combined with an optical machine module, and feeds a document to be scanned into the scanning area so that the optical machine module can capture the image on the document. The automatic document feeder according to the invention is designed so that single-sided and double-sided scanning of a manuscript can be attained. It mainly comprises a delivery route that can feed a manuscript through the scanning area, a return route and guiding-out route respectively connected with the delivery route. The manuscript can come out of the exit to complete single-sided scanning after passing through the scanning area. Or, the manuscript can be turned over to its other side and guided back to the delivery route to pass through the scanning area again to process the second scanning. Finally, the manuscript is guided out of the exit and the double-sided image capture is completed.
Abstract:
A method of loading banknotes to a banknote validator and dispenser system replaces the existing validator with a combination loader and validator. A stack of banknotes has been preloaded in the loader and are not accessible to the service technician. The loader is inserted into the system in place of the removed validator and forms an electrical connection with the system. Banknotes are fed from the loader and directed by the system to the appropriate accumulator and stored therein for later dispensing. The validator of the loader can be of high speed to reduce the loading time. Access to the stack of banknotes and access to banknotes stored in the accumulators is restricted and secure.
Abstract:
An automatic document feeder (ADF) used in a facsimile machine, photocopier or the like. A sheet path from a sheet inlet to outlet is defined by lower, intermediate and upper frames of the ADF. The sheet path is generally shaped like nullCnull when viewed laterally. The intermediate frame has a pivotable member that can be opened and closed, and a guide member for guiding a sheet passing over a platen glass. An elastic member is provided for biasing the guide member on the platen surface from a turning portion of the C-shaped sheet path. Therefore, it is possible to maintain a clearance between the platen surface and guide member and prevent the sheet from flapping. A retard roller is removably supported by the pivotable member so that replacing and maintenance of the retard roller is simplified. Further, the pivotable member is a one-piece element and made from resin. A plurality of ribs extending in a sheet feed direction are provided near the sheet inlet and/or outlet so that the weight of the automatic document feeder is reduced and movements of the sheets are facilitated.
Abstract:
A printer comprises, from upstream to downstream, a loader for articles to be printed, a printing device and transfer elements to direct sequentially the articles from the outlet of the loader to the printing device and from the printing device toward collection elements for the printed articles. The outlet drive element for the articles from the loader, has a cylinder in contact with the articles to be printed by an opening provided in a wall of the loader, and is moved by a motor common to the transfer elements. The contact between the cylinder and the articles is sequentially interrupted by an isolating device moved by a mechanical connection with the motor of the printing device.
Abstract:
A document-handling apparatus and method for transporting documents along a document feed path from an upstream end to a downstream end. The apparatus includes at least one document-handling subassembly along the document feed path for singulating the documents, controlling gaps between the documents, and conveying the documents toward the downstream end; a sensor mounted along the document feed path for sensing the positions of the documents and for generating position signals based on the document positions; and a control apparatus for receiving the position signals and for controlling the velocity and acceleration of the document-handling subassembly so as to regulate the size of the document gaps and to maximize document throughput. The document-handling subassemblies can include a stack advance mechanism, an input feeder, one or more singulators, and one or more output feeders. A trap can also be included to stop a document along the feed path. The apparatus can operate at accelerations as low as 0.5 g, enabling documents to be transported with constant motion through the apparatus, thereby maintaining efficient inter-document gaps without using high accelerations.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying apparatus for an image information processor includes a driving apparatus having a sheet supply opening and a sheet discharge opening arranged above and below and in the same direction, and a registration roller, a delivery roller, a scan roller, and a delivery roller arranged in order along a sheet conveying path formed in an opening curve of a substantially C-shape. The driving apparatus drives the rollers in mutual operations with selective combinations according to a sheet conveying process, and includes a driving motor controlled to change driving modes in the forward and reverse directions, and a power switching device for selectively transferring a rotational force to first and second power transmission systems according to the driving modes of the driving motor, whereby changes in sheet conveying speeds are controlled to secure reliability in the skew-feed correction of a sheet when supplying a large capacity of sheets at a high speed, and to adjust image resolution by mode.
Abstract:
A lifter device for separating the uppermost of a stack of flexible flat workpieces in suction holders for engaging a sheet when suction is applied thereto. At least one suction holder adjacent a side of the frame is movable independently of other suction holders spaced inwardly therefrom to bend an edge portion of the workpiece upwardly. A stop is provided on the frame to limit upward motion of the body of the sheet as the edge portion bends upwardly.
