摘要: A method and apparatus for the detection of methane gas including a low-cost low-power infrared methane sensor integrated with a smart energy network endpoint node, a volume corrector, or an electronic data recorder for transmission of alarm conditions and detector data between the instrument and a remote gas utility company. An independent gas calibration/verification cell may be included in the methane detector for periodically testing the functioning and calibration of the infrared sensor. An infrared carbon monoxide sensor and associated calibration/verification cell may also be installed with the methane sensor.

摘要: A conventional gas leak alarm system is installed in a fixed place of a kitchen or similar space and just generates an alarm sound. Therefore, only a person which is at home can hear an alarm sound which it generates and even a person at home may not be able to hear it if he/she is away from it. According to this invention, after movement to a standby position at step S440, a system judges whether there is a gas leak, according to the result of detection by a gas sensor. If there is a gas leak, it transmits a text mail to notify a predetermined destination (person) of occurrence of a gas leak and calculates a travel route to a specified first alarm position at steps S452 and S454; after movement along the travel route to the alarm position at step S456, an alarm sounder generates an alarm sound at step S458. After a preset time period, it moves to a specified second alarm position by taking a similar procedure at steps S462 to 466 and continues to generate an alarm sound. Then, it continues shuttling between the first and second alarm positions.

摘要: A gas leakage detection system permits the detection of gas leakage within a field of a definite scope to be performed easily and reliably. The gas leakage detection system comprises: gas supply amount detection means (1) that detects the amount of gas supplied at the main side of a gas line that branches out to individual gas users, gas usage detection means (2) that detects the amount of gas used by each of said individual gas users, and leakage determination means (3) that finds the total amount of gas used as the sum of the amounts of gas used by the individual gas users, compares this total amount of gas used against the aforementioned amount of gas supplied, and thus determines whether or not there is any leakage of gas between the main side of the gas line and the individual gas users.

摘要: A hazardous gas detection system is integrated into a wireless communication device such as a two-way radio. The radio has housing (102) with an opening (104) for receiving external air. A bellows-like device (114) has a first side (116) which is attached to an audio speaker diaphragm (112) by a rigid interconnect element (126). A fixed second side (118) of the bellows has first and second ports, 120 and 122. Vibrations from the speaker diaphragm are transferred to the bellows, causing the bellows to expand and contract. During bellows expansion, air is sucked into a first port (120) of the bellows. As the bellows contracts, the air is forced out through a second port (122) of the bellows and directed toward a gas sensor (132) mounted on an internal surface (106) of the radio housing. A warning mechanism in communication with the gas sensor provides forewarning of dangerously high gas concentration levels.

摘要: There is a method and disclosed apparatus for detecting for the presence within a gaseous atmosphere of a gas of a concentration above a preset level. The detecting apparatus comprises a sensor including a heater/anode element and a collector/cathode element disposed to define a space therebetween through which the gaseous atmosphere flows. An actuable power supply is coupled to the heater/anode element and to the collector/cathode element for applying power thereto, whereby ionization of the gas causes a current flow through the collector/cathode element of a magnitude proportional to the concentration level of the gas in the gaseous atmosphere. An actuable alarm means provides an indication of the presence of the gas above the preset level. Detecting apparatus control operates the detecting apparatus in a monitoring mode, wherein the power supply is actuated and the alarm deactuated to detect and compare the current flow with the preset level. Upon first detecting current which is equal to or exceeds the preset level, the control operates the detecting apparatus in a leak wait mode, wherein the power supply is actuated and the alarm deactuated to initiate the timing of a period while comparing throughout the period detected current flow with the preset level. If the detected current flow remains equal to or greater than the preset level until the period times out, the control operates the detecting apparatus in an alarm mode, wherein the power supply is deactuated and the alarm is actuated.

摘要: A gas detecting method and apparatus for selectively detecting a fuel gas having methane as a main component thereof and an incomplete combustion gas having carbon monoxide as a main component thereof. A low heat capacity, hot-wire semiconductor type gas sensor used has an oxide semiconductor formed mainly of valency-controlled tin oxide and acting as a sensitive section thereof. An inactive to gas combustion, heat resistant, quadrivalent metallic oxide is mixed into the sensitive section. The sensitive section is alternately switched between a fuel gas detecting temperature and an incomplete combustion gas detecting temperature.

摘要: A photoelectric smoke detector has test circuitry for testing the detector by increasing the sensitivity thereof. The sensitivity is increased by either altering a bias condition of a photosensor or by altering a gain parameter of the detector. The detector returns to a quiescent state when the sensor returns to its original bias condition or when the gain parameter returns to its quiescent value.

摘要: A vehicle and method for detecting the formation of ignitable mixtures in the closed spaces of the vehicle has at least one signal-generating sensor mounted in the closed spaces of the vehicle at a point at which, because of the physical characteristics of the fuel and because of the spatial conditions, harmful substances and/or gases collect first. The signals generated by the at least one sensor are processed in an electronic circuit which, as a function of the measured harmful-substance or gas concentration, actuated movable vehicle parts for closing and opening certain vehicle spaces.
