摘要: Technologies for protocol-agnostic network packet segmentation includes determining whether a size of a payload of a network packet to be transmitted by the compute device exceeds a maximum size threshold and segmenting the payload into a plurality of segmented payloads if the size of the payload exceeds the maximum size of threshold. The payload may be segmented based on segmentation metadata associated with the network packet.

摘要: A network device includes multiple interconnected network chips where the packet processing functionality is distributed between ingress and egress pipelines. TCP MSS clamping can be implemented in the egress pipeline. Processing in the egress pipeline can identify the presence of a TCP MSS value in the packet. The egress pipeline can compare the packet TCP MSS value with a user configured TCP MSS value. The egress pipeline can replace the packet TCP MSS value with the user configured TCP MSS value if the former is greater than the latter, and recompute a checksum. The packet with the replaced TCP MSS value and replaced checksum is then forwarded from the switch toward its eventual destination.

摘要: Devices and techniques for packet arbitration for buffered packets in a network device are described herein. A packet can be received at an input of the network device. The packet can be placed in a buffer for the input and a characteristic of the packet can be obtained. A record for the packet, that includes the characteristic, is written into a data structure that is independent of the buffer. Arbitration, based on the characteristic of the packet in the record, can then be performed among multiple packets to select a next packet from the buffer for delivery to an output.

The first node (110; 210; 212; 310; 1000): sends (301; 901), to the second node (111; 211; 210; 220), request messages in varying sized IP packets using an application layer protocol over UDP and which datagrams are configured not to be fragmented; receives (302; 902) response messages from the second node, each indicating a received request message that the response message is in response to, was received by the second node (111; 211; 210; 220); identifies (303; 903) a request message for which there is a change in receipt of response message compared to another request message of said varying sized IP packets; determines (304; 904), based on said identification, an indication of the maximum datagram size supported without fragmentation.

摘要: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for providing traffic visibility in a network. An embodiment operates by a third-party component receiving a copy of a first data packet during a first period of time. The third-party component extracts a first network parameter associated with the first period of time from the copy of the first data packet. The third-party component then predicts a baseline of normalcy for the first network parameter during a second period of time after the first period of time based on data associated with a copy of a second data packet and the first network parameter. Thereafter, the third-party component receives a copy of a third data packet during the second period of time, and extracts a second network parameter from the copy of the third data packet. The third-party component then determines that the second network parameter of the copy of the second data packet is an anomaly based on the baseline of normalcy for the first network parameter.

摘要: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for providing traffic visibility in a network. An embodiment operates by a third-party component in communication with a network component—each located at a network's edge—maintaining a rule table including a first rule comprising first identifiers and a first action for deriving a first packet characteristic. The third-party component receives a first packet copy including second identifiers from the network component. Upon the second identifiers matching the first identifiers, the third-party component determines the rule table's second rule includes a second action for deriving a second packet characteristic. Thereafter, the third-party component receives a second packet copy comprising third identifiers from the network component. Upon the third identifiers matching the first identifiers, the third-party component identifies the rule table's second rule and performs the second rule to derive the second packet characteristic based on the second packet's data.
