    摘要: A system and method involve acoustic source localization using passive sonar and capitalizing on the sparse nature of a source location map (SLM). Two types of sparsity are exploited, namely sparsity in the support of the SLMs and sparsity in the innovations across consecutive SLMs. The first type is motivated by the desire to construct SLMs whose non-zero entries corresponded to locations where sources are present. The second type of sparsity is motivated by the observation that few changes occur in the support of consecutive SLMs. Per time instant, an SLM is obtained as the solution of a regularized least-squares problem, where the regularization terms are chosen to encourage the desired sparse structures in each SLM and the innovations. Each SLM may be obtained via a specifically-tailored, computationally-efficient proximal gradient algorithm.

    摘要: A waterproof sound-transmitting membrane of the present disclosure includes: a non-porous resin film having formed therein a plurality of through holes extending through a thickness of the non-porous resin film; and a liquid-repellent layer formed on a principal surface of the resin film and having openings at positions corresponding to positions of the plurality of through holes. The through holes have a diameter of 4.0 μm or more and 12.0 μm or less, and the waterproof sound-transmitting membrane has a through-thickness air permeability of 2.0 cm3/(cm2·second) or more and 50 cm3/(cm2·second) or less in terms of Frazier number as measured according to JIS L 1096. With this waterproof sound-transmitting membrane placed over an opening of a housing of an electronic device or the like, entry of water into the housing from outside can be prevented, in addition to which the characteristics of sound transmitted through the membrane can be kept even when the membrane has a reduced effective area.

    摘要: A pressure compensated hydrophone for measuring dynamic pressures is disclosed. The hydrophone includes a compliant hollow mandrel with a single optical fiber coiled around at least a portion of the mandrel. The mandrel further includes at least one pressure relief valve for compensating for changes in hydrostatic pressure. The pressure relief valve includes a micro-hole, which allows hydrostatic pressures or low frequency pressure events to couple into the interior of the mandrel to provide compensation against such pressure. Higher frequencies pressure events of interest do not couple through the micro-hole and therefore only act only on the exterior of the mandrel, allowing for their detection. Because (quasi) hydrostatic events are compensated for, the mandrel may be made particularly compliant, rendering the singular fiber optic coil particularly sensitive to the detection of the higher frequency signals of interest.
