摘要: An apparatus for feeding sheet-like articles along a path and selectively diverting them into one or the other of a plurality of bins where they are collected in stacked relation, comprises a series of pusher fingers spaced along an endless chain which is driven in synchronism with a source of supply of the articles so that the pusher fingers move in behind each article as it is fed to the stacker and pushes it until it is diverted into one of the bins. The drive for the pusher fingers is such that the fingers remain in substantially perpendicular relation to the plane of the article whether it is being diverted into a bin or is being moved along a horizontal path over one bin to the next, and the fingers are lifted from engagement with a diverted sheet as it enters a bin so as not to force the leading edge of the article against the side of the bin and damage it. To insure the article being dropped horizontally into a bin, rather than dropping in at an angle, means are provided in the bin for supporting the article in a horizontal position until the entire article is within the confines of the bin at which time the support means moves from beneath the article and allows it to drop down into the bin in a horizontal or flat condition. To aid in stacking the articles, one end portion thereof is provided with an aperture which drops down over an inclined spindle projecting upwardly from the bottom of the bin.

摘要: The machine accepts a multilayer perforated paper web of indeterminate length from a collating machine, and rapidly cuts off, without waste, individual parcels, packets or card sets so accurately dimensioned that cards included in the sets may be used as data cards in automatic high speed data card handling equipment without supplemental sizing or finishing treatment. The register perforations of the web are used as guides to ensure accuracy of the cutoff.

摘要: A method for rapidly stacking and dropping sheets is provided. The method comprises receiving a plurality of sheets from a sheet delivery device onto a landing platform of a stacking and dropping apparatus. The method also comprises lowering the landing platform from an original upper position. Lowering comprises maintaining a drop height between the sheet delivery device and a stack of delivered sheets. The method also comprises sending a delay signal that comprises a command to delay the receiving of the plurality of sheets from the sheet delivery device. The delay signal is sent in response to a detection of a predetermined stack height of the stack of delivered sheets. The method also comprises sending a movement signal, immediately following the sending of the delay signal. The movement signal comprises a command to move the landing platform, such that the plurality of sheets are received by a catch tray unit. The method also comprises dropping, utilizing the catch tray unit, the plurality of sheets onto a sheet receiving device. The method also comprises returning, automatically, the landing platform to the original upper position. The method also comprises sending a resume signal, that includes a command to the sheet delivery device to resume sheet delivery. The delay signal, movement signal and resume signal are sent by a central processor component of the stacking and dropping apparatus.

摘要: Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item in a receptacle are disclosed. Features are disclosed for receiving and guiding an item in a receiving space of a receptacle so as to attenuate or remove the impact force of the item on the receptacle. Some embodiments of the disclosure include a bumper having an impact surface which absorbs most or all of the impact force of the item and thereby mitigates or removes the imposition of cyclic impact loads on the receptacle from repeated receipt of items. The bumper may be structurally and/or functionally de-coupled or otherwise physically separated from the receptacle such that an advantageous division of labor is created between absorbing the impact and receiving the item. This disclosure may be useful, for example, in modern industrial operations where a high volume of items are received daily, such as in mail sorting and handling operations.
