摘要:
Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item in a receptacle are disclosed. Features are disclosed for receiving and guiding an item in a receiving space of a receptacle so as to attenuate or remove the impact force of the item on the receptacle. Some embodiments of the disclosure include a bumper having an impact surface which absorbs most or all of the impact force of the item and thereby mitigates or removes the imposition of cyclic impact loads on the receptacle from repeated receipt of items. The bumper may be structurally and/or functionally de-coupled or otherwise physically separated from the receptacle such that an advantageous division of labor is created between absorbing the impact and receiving the item. This disclosure may be useful, for example, in modern industrial operations where a high volume of items are received daily, such as in mail sorting and handling operations.

A sheet processing apparatus capable of properly stacking sheets by detecting abnormality of a sheet stacking state during a sheet stacking operation to thereby prevent stack overflow. In the sheet processing apparatus, a conveyed sheet is stacked on a stacking tray. A sheet presence sensor detects a sheet on a sheet stacking surface of the stacking tray. A sheet height reduction sensor detects sheets within a predetermined distance downward from the uppermost surface of sheets stacked on the stacking tray. When the sheet presence sensor detects no sheet, and the sheet height reduction sensor detects a sheet during an operation for discharging a plurality of sheets onto the stacking tray, it is determined that an abnormal stacking state has occurred, and conveyance of a sheet is stopped.

Systems and methods for folding a stack of substrate sheets are provided. The system may include a roller assembly and a positioning mechanism. The roller assembly is configured for folding the stack of substrate sheets and the positioning mechanism is configured to position the substrate or stack for entry into the roller assembly. The positioning mechanism includes an upper curved form and a lower curved form to guide the stack of substrate sheets into a curved position for folding. The positioning mechanism further includes a folding blade positioned to extend through the gap between the upper and lower curved forms. The roller assembly can move the folded stack of substrate sheets in at least two directions.

An invented medium delivery apparatus includes a delivery unit, a medium stacking unit, a detection unit, and a sensor. The delivery unit delivers a conveyed medium. The medium stacking unit stacks the medium delivered from the delivery unit. The detection unit is disposed between the delivery unit and the medium stacking unit in a medium conveyance direction, and detects an amount of the medium delivered to the medium stacking unit. The sensor senses a motion of the detection unit. The detection unit has a detachable tip portion. The medium delivery apparatus is able to change the sheet number of media stacked on the medium stacking unit where the medium stacking unit is in a full status with the stacked media.

A sheet stacking apparatus includes a lowering control unit, a determination unit, a notification unit, and a control unit. The lowering control unit lowers a discharge tray based on an amount of sheets discharged to the tray. The determination unit can determine that lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled before the discharge tray reaches a lower end position. The notification unit notifies removal of an object present below the discharge tray when it is determined that the lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled. The control unit executes control so as to raise the discharge tray in response to the determination that the lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled.

A sheet processing apparatus includes a vertically movable tray that moves vertically in accordance with an amount of stacked folded sheets which are transported and stacked thereon, a plate that is disposed above the vertically movable tray and that does not move in accordance with transport of a folded sheet, a recognizing unit that recognizes a predetermined height state of a sheet stacked on the vertically movable tray, and a controller that controls the vertically movable tray so as to, in response to a recognition of the predetermined height state of the sheet by the recognizing unit, move the vertically movable tray upward, press the sheet stacked on the vertically movable tray against the plate, and subsequently move the vertically movable tray downward.

A press force control apparatus for use in a apparatus for stacking sheets of paper that have been cut from a continuous roll of paper by inserting each successive sheet of paper beneath a previously stacked sheet of paper. The press force control apparatus includes a paper press for pressing a top surface of the sheets of paper, after the sheets of paper have been placed in a stacked position, wherein the paper press is translatable up and down with respect to a stack height of the sheets of paper. The press force control apparatus includes a press force switching facilities for dually functioning to contact the paper press to apply a press force to the paper press and thus hold the paper press in a downwardly translated position, wherein the paper press transfers the press force to the sheets of paper in the stacked position until the stack height of the sheets of paper in the stacked position reaches a predetermined value and to release the press force when the stack height of the sheets of paper exceeds the predetermined value. The press force switching facilities is provided with a mechanism for controlling the stack height at which the press force is released. The press force control apparatus assures that an appropriate press force is always applied to the sheets of paper so that the sheets of paper may be reliably successively stacked on the bottom of the stack.

There is disclosed a sheet stacker, for use in combination with a copying machine, a printer or the like, capable of ensuring satisfactory sheet stacking regardless whether the sheet is folded or not. The apparatus controls the stacking operation in different modes in accordance with whether the sheets to be stacked are folded or not.
