Abstract:
A thermostat is configured for automated compatibility with HVAC systems that are either single-HVAC-transformer systems or dual-HVAC-transformer systems. The compatibility is automated in that a manual jumper installation is not required for adaptation to either single-HVAC-transformer systems or dual-HVAC-transformer systems. The thermostat has a plurality of HVAC wire connectors including a first call relay wire connector, a first power return wire connector, a second call relay wire connector, and a second power return wire connector. The thermostat is configured such that if the first and second external wires have been inserted into the first and second power return wire connectors, respectively, then the first and second power return wire connectors are electrically isolated from each other. Otherwise, the first and second power return wire connectors are electrically shorted together.
Abstract:
A tubular medical fluid flow set comprises a pressure sensing chamber connected in flow-through relation to fluid flow tubing of the set. The pressure sensing chamber defines a movable, flexible, impermeable diaphragm dividing the chamber into two separate compartments. The fluid flow tubing communicates with one of the compartments and is isolated from the other of the compartments. A port is carried on the chamber, the port having a seal therein, and communicating with the other of the compartments. Thus, the other of the compartments is hermetically sealed until the port is opened for connection with a pressure measuring device, to keep the flexible diaphragm in a desired, initial position prior to opening of the seal.
Abstract:
A flow restriction member having a cylindrical body and two ends, a two-faced flange disposed radially about the body, and a hub formed by the outer surface of the body not otherwise disposed by the two-faced flange. The flow restriction member further includes a first conically-shaped circular torus opening disposed on one end of the body, the torus opening progressively reducing in cross-sectional area along the longitudinal axis into the body, a second conically-shaped circular torus opening disposed on the other end of the body, the torus opening progressively reducing in cross-sectional area along the longitudinal axis into the body, and a sill opening disposed between the first and the second torus openings, the sill opening of constant cross-sectional area along the longitudinal axis of the body. In one example, a handle disposed radially from the two-faced flange and an RFID tag disposed within the handle.
Abstract:
Provided according to one or more embodiments herein are methods, systems and related architectures for facilitating network communications between a wireless network-connected thermostat and a cloud-based management server in a manner that promotes reduced power usage and extended service life of a rechargeable battery of the thermostat, while at the same time accomplishing timely data transfer between the thermostat and the cloud-based management server for suitable and time-appropriate control of an HVAC system. The thermostat further comprises powering circuitry configured to: extract electrical power from one or more HVAC control wires in a manner that does not require a “common” wire; supply electrical power for thermostat operation; recharge the rechargeable battery (if needed) using any surplus extracted power; and discharge the rechargeable battery to assist in supplying electrical power for thermostat operation during intervals in which the extracted power alone is insufficient for thermostat operation.
Abstract:
A thermostat includes a plurality of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) wire connectors for receiving a plurality of HVAC control wires corresponding to an HVAC system. The thermostat also includes a thermostat processing and control circuit configured to at least partially control the operation of the HVAC system and a powering circuit coupled to the HVAC wire connectors and configured to provide an electrical load power to the thermostat processing and control circuit. The powering circuit has a power extraction circuit configured to extract electrical power from one or more of the plurality of received HVAC control wires up to a first level of electrical power, a rechargeable battery, and a power control circuit. The power control circuit is configured to provide the electrical load power using power from the power extraction circuit and the rechargeable battery.

Abstract:
Antigenic peptides that bind to MHC Class II molecules with the shared epitope referred to as HLA-DR molecules are disclosed. More specifically, are citrullinated antigenic peptides having an increased affinity for HLA-DR molecules and associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. These novel peptides provide the basis for new methods of diagnosis and treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Abstract:
The electric machine comprises a rotor and stator, the rotor and stator having generally equal axial lengths. The stator has at least one primary and at least one control winding disposed around the stator. The electric machine comprises a stator extension of a magnetic material. The stator extension is disposed coaxially with the stator and has only the at least one control winding wrapped therearound. The stator extension extends axially adjacent the stator beyond an axial terminus of the rotor and defines a magnetic circuit around the at least one control winding. The stator extension is configured such that in use, the magnetic circuit remains unsaturated thereby increasing inductance of at least one control winding in an electric alternator/motor.
Abstract:
A medical tubing set sheath is provided which includes a retention portion for attaching the sheath to a collar of a connector attached to the medical tubing set. The sheath may serve as a handle to facilitate torque-locking of the connector to another connector. The sheath may also include a ratcheting mechanism in order to allow for the sheath to ratchet upon application of excess torque, when the tubing set is being attached to a peripheral tubing set. The sheath may also include a needle receiving portion, so that the sheath provides for a needle protector, which may be retained in a position displaced from the needle in order to insure that the needle is exposed when removed from its packaging, and can be quickly and easily inserted in a patient's arm.
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program product for automatically alerting one or more recipients of the arrival of an individual to a known destination via a global positioning system (GPS) navigation device. To issue an accurate alert of arrival time and or distance, the device enables: (1) pre-selection of two or more locations from a plurality of mapped locations; (2) pre-selection of one or more devices to which an alert is to be sent when the GPS device passes through the pre-selected locations; and (3) pre-selection of a time during which the alert should be triggered. The device automatically sends an alert to one or more devices when the GPS device passes through the pre-selected locations during the pre-selected time period, wherein the alert informs the user of the one or more recipient devices that the individual (corresponding to the GPS device) has commenced a journey to the destination.
