Abstract: An electronic device may include a stereoscopic display that is configured to display three-dimensional content for a viewer. The stereoscopic display may include a lenticular lens film with lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display and may be referred to as a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have convex curvature. The lenticular display may include a color filter layer with color filters and an opaque masking layer. The color filter layer may be interposed between the lenticular lens film and an array of display pixels for the display. The color filter layer may mitigate ghost image artifacts and reflections of ambient light. Microlenses may be included between the lenticular lens film and the array of display pixels to improve the efficiency of the display. The display may include a Fresnel lens layer. The lenticular lens film may include lenticular lenses having different shapes.

Abstract: An electronic device such as a voice-controlled speaker device may have a cylindrical shape. The electronic device may include a housing, a speaker in the housing configured to emit sound, and a display in the housing. The display may include a substrate, light-emitting components mounted on the substrate, an opaque support structure mounted on the substrate, a diffuser that is mounted to the opaque support structure and that overlaps the light-emitting components, a display cover layer that overlaps the diffuser, and foam that is interposed between the opaque support structure and the display cover layer. The light-emitting components may be arranged in groups that have the same layout and orientations that vary as a function of angular position relative to the center of the display. The foam and/or an adhesive layer may be formed from two or more discrete pieces that have footprints with complementary protrusions.

Abstract: A touch screen may be formed from a display and perimeter touch electrodes. Touches detected at one or more of the perimeter touch electrodes can be imputed to touch on a region of the display of the touch screen adjacent to the perimeter touch electrodes. In some examples, the perimeter touch electrodes comprise segmented frit metal arranged around the perimeter of the display (e.g., frit metal used to encapsulate the display). In some examples, the perimeter touch electrodes can be coupled to one or more touch sensing circuits via switching circuitry. In some examples, the switching circuitry can be operated based on control signals shared with the display circuitry.

Abstract: A pixel array may be illuminated with backlight illumination from a backlight. The backlight may include a two-dimensional array of light-emitting diodes, with each light-emitting diode being placed in a respective cell. Different light-emitting diodes may have unique brightness magnitudes based on the content of the given display frame. Driver integrated circuits may control one or more associated light-emitting diodes to have a desired brightness level. The driver integrated circuits may be formed in an active area of the backlight. The driver integrated circuits may be arranged in groups that are daisy chained together. A digital signal (that includes information such as addressing information) may be propagated through the group of driver integrated circuits. To manage thermal performance of the backlight, the backlight may include a thermally conductive layer and/or a heat sink structure. To increase the efficiency of the backlight, the backlight may include one or more reflective layers.

Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a display. The display may be overlapped by an antiglare film. The antiglare film may have a rough surface to diffuse incident light, thereby reducing glare. Additionally, the antiglare film may have a smooth portion that forms a transparent window and allows light to pass through undiffused. The electronic device may include a light-based component, such as a camera, that receives undiffused light through the transparent window. By overlapping the light-based component with the transparent window, the light-based component may receive the light in an unimpeded manner, thereby making more accurate measurements of the light. The display may have one or more display layers, such as opaque masking layers or polarizers, with openings that are aligned with the transparent window. The light-based component may receive the light through these openings so that the light is not absorbed or polarized before reaching the component.

Abstract: An electronic device may have input-output devices such as buttons formed from capacitive touch sensor electrodes. A transparent layer may be provided with opaque masking structures having a symbol-shaped opening aligned with a capacitive touch sensor electrode for a button or other input device. The symbol-shaped opening may be adjacent to the electrode and may be illuminated with light from a lighting system. The lighting system may include a light guide plate. The light guide plate may have edges that are oriented at non-zero angle with respect to each other. Light-emitting diodes of different colors may emit light into the edges. The light may be extracted from the light guide plate using bumps in a light extraction region. Light may be collimated using ribs formed on an opposing side of the light guide plate.
